Who are the most critical of ? ‘s analysis points to young BM speakers

KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 — Young Malaysians speaking in the national language have emerged as the demographic group most critical of Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s leadership in the wake of the “Nothing2Hide” forum fiasco this month, a recent social media research study showed.

Politweet ran an analysis of 1,000 Malaysia-based Twitter users who tweeted about the event between June 5 and 8 and found a whopping 95.5 per cent or 955 were negative responses towards the prime minister who didn’t show up for the public dialogue.

Of the total responses, the Twitter study found that 67 per cent or two-thirds were written in Bahasa Malaysia. It categorised 25 per cent as English speakers while the remaining 8 per cent were said to be bilingual.

“With 67 per cent of the sample being Bahasa Malaysia speakers and 30.55 per cent of them choosing to voice their disapproval directly to the PM, the message here is that young Bahasa Malaysia speakers are not afraid to criticise the PM openly in large numbers,” Politweet said in a statement to Malay Mail Online.

forum had bigger impact in one day than 1MDB in three months, says

KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 — More Malaysians tweeted about the “Nothing2Hide” event in a single day than about 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) in the entire first quarter of this year, according to a study of the hottest topics by social media research firm Politweet.

To Politweet, this suggests the cancelled forum cost the government more dearly publicity-wise than the controversy surrounding the debt-stricken state investment fund.

In the same analysis of 1,000 Twitter users who who tweeted about the “Nothing2Hide” event from June 5 to June 8,  Politweet found that 95.5 per cent (955) of users responded negatively to Najib skipping the event.

A total of 67.7 per cent (677) of Twitter users made general negative remarks about the cancellation of the event, while 27.8 per cent (278) users attacked Najib directly on Twitter, tagging the prime minister’s @NajibRazak handle.

The same analysis found that only 2 per cent (20) of the 1,000 Twitter users were supportive of Najib’s decision to skip the forum, while 2.5 percent (25) of Twitter users remained neutral.

Najib can’t flee Dr M in showdown . .

…a re-enacted showdown between Najib and Mahathir based on a Pokemon video game that started in the 1990s and has remained popular until today, appears to have taken the cake. The video of the political Pokemon duel went viral on WhatsApp yesterday and has since been uploaded on YouTube, to garner more than 20,000 views in less than a day. In the video titled ‘Najib vs Mahathir (Pokemon), PWTC final bout’ Najib, who is the main character, is seen escaping PWTC but is enticed to pick up a golden ring, supposedly for his wife, Rosmah Mansor. However, the ring appears to have been a ruse for Mahathir to engage Najib in battle. After repeated failed attempts to run away from Mahathir, Najib is finally forced to fight the former premier. … The video ends with a cliffhanger when Najib used a diamond ring to summon Rosmah.

Amid lightning streaks in the background, Rosmah demands to know why Mahathir was harassing Najib, startling the former premier… http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/301347

6 June 2016: Birth of a new word ‘najib’ and a new phrase ‘do a najib’. Can you imagine these becoming commonly used? The IGP wanted to save Najib’s face by cancelling the dialogue. All his efforts would be in vain for, whatever face was saved then, would soon be lost!

The phrase “Don’t do a Najib” has been heard at least 10 times since yesterday.

Noh Omar: IGP saved face for PM, Dr M by cancelling forum

BY MELISSA CHI

KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 — Umno’s Datuk Seri Noh Omar said the Inspector-General of Police rightly cancelled a forum last week where Datuk Seri Najib Razak was supposed to address issues such as 1 Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB). During the debate on the 11th Malaysia Plan in Parliament today, the Tanjong Karang MP said the event would have jeopardised the dignity of Najib and his chief critic, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who was also in attendance. “We have to understand the emotions and the situation. Even if the prime minister comes with an explanation, the people will not listen.

“They will boo him, so the best way is to have a face-to-face meeting, a heart-to-heart talk, not put on a show for everyone to see,” he said. Noh added that a face-off between Najib and Dr Mahathir was precisely what the opposition wanted. “This is about dignity, not just of the prime minister’s but the dignity of a statesman. Let’s not win the battle and lose the war,” Noh added. “Congratulations for not falling into the opposition’s trap,” he said. – See more at: http://www.themalaymailonline.com/malaysia/article/noh-omar-igp-saved-face-for-pm-dr-m-by-cancelling-forum#sthash.WELMFFN6.dpuf

Najib’s ‘bravery’ lauded despite not facing Dr M

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Shahidan Kassim defended Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s bravery today, after the latter failed to turn up for a dialogue session on Friday, which was also attended by former premier Mahathir Mohamad. “The prime minister did want to go that day,” said Shahidan of the session, which was on IMDB and held at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur. “I met Mahathir in Kota Kinabalu and I told him the same thing, and he responded with a smile,” Shahidan told the Dewan Rakyat today. … Shahidan however blamed Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar for Najib’s absence for Friday’s talk. “What happened is not Pekan’s (Najib) fault. Pekan did want to go but the IGP’s orders were for him not to go,” the minister said. http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/3010726:00PM Jun 8, 2015

Dialogue debacle: ‘Najib knew Dr M was invited’

Ketereh MP Annuar Musa said today Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak had ditched the now infamous ‘Nothing to Hide forum on Friday not because of former premier Dr Mahathir Mohammad’s presence. Annuar said Mahathir was not a factor as Najib has already agreed to face Mahathir and the organiser even made seating arrangements for the former Umno president and prime minister. “The prime minister and the organiser has agreed that Tun M (Mahathir) will come. Everything had been arranged and the seat for Tun M was also prepared but something else happened instead,” said Annuar as quoted by the portal BN Backbenchers Club portal. The portal also reported that Annuar said the failure of the police to handle attendees who showed up without invitation proved to be a reason for many speculation to arise about the controversial event. … “Things were alright at the beginning with all 1,500 people inside the hall but the crowd outside was different. … “It was chaotic because they did not have the invites but wanted to barge inside the hall even when held back by PWTC security personnel,” he said. http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/301133IT LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE IS HIDING. Johor crown prince shows red card to Najib

zs Swipenter: Umno has been playing politics with the Malay royalty whenever it suits them. Now they are finding out that the royal knife can cut both ways. Gary Nair: Daulat Tuanku, I am really, really proud of you. You are the man of the rakyat. A real prince and a future ruler. You told off the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and the sports minister, and now the PM. Most Malaysians don’t know that you led the Indian Calvary regiment during India’s national day parade and was saluted by the president of India. That is called the royal salute. God bless you, Tuanku. .. Odin Tajué: Your Highness, you have the maturity and wisdom of those much older than you such as Najib obviously and sadly lack. I remember you recently commented on something to do with the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM). Please continue to speak up. Your voice carries far more weight than that of the ordinary but equally concerned Malaysians. Hermit: Daulat Tuanku. The other day, it needs the subtle advice from the crown prince to tick the sports minister on how to manage FAM, and today the crown prince has to tutelage the cabinet prime minister on how to be a responsible leader. … CQ Muar: I admire the Johor prince for calling a spade a spade. Generally, a royalty do not interfere in politics, unless for a good and valid reason. In this case, even the crown prince couldn’t stand the wrongdoings of the Bugis warrior for his deceit, arrogance, cowardice, evil and lies. Well done and bravo, Tunku Ismail. I humbly salute you as Najib certainly deserve what’s coming. What a royal wash-down for the prime minister. http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/301013IT’S FINGER-POINTING TIME, THE TIME TO FIND OUT WHO WAS AT FAULT FOR NAJIB’S NO-SHOW. ‘PM’s aide sabotaged Najib-Dr M dialogue’

The Umno-linked NGO which organised the ‘Nothing2Hide’ dialogue on 1MDB for Najib Abdul Razak has blamed the prime minister’s aide for the no-show that has turned into a major embarrassment for the prime minister. Malaysian Volunteer Lawyers Association (Sukaguam) chairperson Khairul Anwar Rahmat said today the aide had prevented Najib from attending the event so as to prevent him from crossing paths with former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is the prime minister’s fiercest critic. “When Najib was on the way to the venue and was advised by the inspector-general of police about the situation at PWTC, the organiser still believed that Najib should attend to prove he is big-hearted and was ready to meet with Mahathir and speak on any matter. “We were convinced that even if the programme were to be postponed on police advice, the meeting between Najib and Mahathir should still go on in a private room to prove the start of a new chapter and to calm down their respective supporters. “Unfortunately, the aide worked to block the prime minister’s attendance, conveyed inaccurate information, and made the situation worst by exaggerating the matter to the prime minister that he would supposedly be mocked if he turned up at PWTC,” he said. http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/300969

We were there at (Nothing2Show) and we did notice some really weird things going on.

5 very strange facts about Najibs FFK at Nothing2Hide

Chak Onn Lau #Nothing2Hide took place earlier today at PWTC’s Dewan Tun Hussein Onn, and EVERYONE was invited.

“The media agencies – print, online and even bloggers – are invited as we all share the common mission of bringing truth to the people,” – Khairul Anwar Rahmat, Malaysian Volunteer Lawyers Association (SukaGuam) chairman, The Star. .All in all, no one will disagree that Najib’s no-show is a PR disaster on his end, which may probably require Lim Kok Wing to work extra hours. Only a day before this drama, he said he had a ‘warrior spirit’ to a 10,000-strong crowd in Kuching. To the extent that even Johor royalty are calling him out.

“How can you have a dialogue called ‘Nothing2Hide’ featuring a person who has everything to hide? Obviously he won’t show up.” – Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail, Malaysiakini.

— Thing is… we were there too. And there were somethings that happened along the way that made us think that there’s more here than meets the eye.

1. The media weren’t allowed inside. … 2. The IGP makes decisions really quickly and decisively. … 3. We’re not sure who’s side the organiser (SUKAGUAM) is on. … 4. Najib never officially said he was coming (!) … 5. They let Mahathir talk, and then they kept him quiet?

Nothing2Show is the talk despite millions for media blitz

June 6, 2015

Najib’s non-appearance is a show of no confidence in his claims whatever they may be.

The trigger was definitely pulled on Friday and the chain of events will forever be known and remembered as the day our glorious leader chickened out from the ironically named “Nothing2Hide” forum. His no-show was a show of no confidence in his claims (whatever it may be). After working hard to hire and and surely paying millions for the best PR mercenaries available for damage control, from 1MDBgate and the other political whiplashes, the only thing people are talking about is anything and everything about ‪#‎Nothing2Hide‬. And no one had to fork out a single cent for this sort of media and public reach. Oh the irony. SukaGuam makes U-turn on welcoming Tun M for ‘Nothing2Hide’ event (video)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzXmuECQr9E KUALA LUMPUR, June 5, 2015: The organiser of ”Nothing2Hide” explained that the presence of former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was not welcomed. This came after the organisation earlier said that it would be more than happy to have Dr Mahathir there if he would wanted to participate. Malaysian Volunteer Lawyers Association (SukaGuam) chairman Datuk Khairul Anuar Rahmat, today said Dr Mahathir was present because the news of his participation went viral on social media. At a press conference to announce the event earlier this week in Wangsa Maju, Khairul had said that the association would be more than happy to have Dr Mahathir at the event if the latter wanted to participate. “This is an open forum. If Dr Mahathir wants to come, we welcome him as we are not sure how to send the invitation to him,” Khairul Anuar had said. Meanwhile today, Khairul Anuar said when Dr Mahathir arrived at 8.45am, they met and Dr Mahathir admitted he was not invited to the event. “He only came to meet participants and speak if he was allowed by the organisers. “I also said before this that if he wants to come he has to register with an NGO that was allowed for this event. “This is because the event was created for small NGOs that want to exchange thoughts with Najib,” he said at a press conference at the Dewan Tun Hussein Onn in Pusat Dagangan Dunia Putra (PWTC) today. The Kluang youth chief said Dr Mahathir’s actions to speak on the stage did not get approval from the organisers and was not part of the event. http://www.therakyatpost.com/news/2015/06/05/sukaguam-makes-u-turn-on-welcoming-tun-m-for-nothing-to-hide-event/ … Star

Nothing2Hide: Dr Mahathir not personally invited, say organisers

KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was not given a personal invitation to attend the Nothing2Hide forum on Friday, the organisers said. Malaysian Volunteer Lawyers Association (SukaGuam) chairman Datuk Khairul Anwar Rahmat said they had organised the forum with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for activists and NGO leaders, a fact the former premier was aware of. “Tun Mahathir was not personally invited, and he was gentlemanly enough to admit that when he showed up this morning. “He felt that he needed to attend the dialogue to speak about pertinent issues and to meet the people, so we welcomed him,” Khairul told reporters at the Putra World Trade Centre, Friday. http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2015/06/05/Nothing2Hide-Mahathir-not-personally-invited/Strangely, the police chief had instructed the event’s cancellation even before the scuffle happened. Khalid’s tweet was at 8.53am but the commotion, which was witnessed by a Malaysiakini journalist, happened at 9.35am. Malaysiakini 9:11AM Jun 6, 2015

The great fumbling to save Najib’s face

COMMENT As the dust settles on yesterday’s highly anticipated showdown between the ex-premier and the current one, the official line has been that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak could not turn up for “security reasons”. Even if the clash of words did not materialise, which instead fizzled into a truncated monologue by Dr Mahathir Mohamad, those who were at PWTC yesterday morning would agree there were grounds for concern. The situation did turn chaotic at the forum titled ‘Nothing to Hide: PM’s Dialogue with NGOs’. Journalists were shoved against the wall and tables, with some even losing their shoes, from all the pushing in the overflowing hall. The 2,000-strong crowd was angry too; they shouted and drowned out the emcee. But despite the jostling for space, the apparent chaos only came about after the emcee announced the police decision to cancel the event. When Mahathir took advantage of Najib’s no-show to make his grand entrance into the hall with his supporters, the situation became even more chaotic, as the crowd cheered wildly. Police and security personnel then swung into the action and entered the hall, turning the din in the overcrowded venue into a pandemonium. … But how exactly the emcee’s announcement could threaten ‘harmony’ is unclear. “We understand that the security authorities have met with the organiser and informed them about a scuffle outside the hall. An arrest was also made to identify who had (planned to) sabotage this programme,” said the emcee at around 10.20am. “Therefore, the organiser has been forced the cancel the event.” … Two men had quarrelled outside the hall and a PWTC security personnel and Rela officer were seen grabbing the arms of one of the men and escorted him away. … How a scuffle between two men could threaten such a high-profile event almost an hour after it happened remains a mystery. http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/300917 — Malaysiakini Jun 5, 2015

‘Stop Dr M from speaking’ – IGP admits gag order

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar has admitted giving the order to stop Dr Mahathir Mohamad from addressing the participants at the ‘Nothing to Hide’ dialogue session. “Yes,” he replied when asked if he ordered his personnel at the PWTC venue in Kuala Lumpur to prevent Mahathir from delivering his speech. “When I issue an order to axe the event, this means everything will be called off,” he told a press conference at the Bukit Aman police headquarters this afternoon. To another question, Khalid said police would not record a statement from Mahathir with regard to the dialogue session, where one person was arrested. “There is no necessity for us to call Mahathir at the moment,” he said, adding that the police will also not call the event organiser at this juncture. http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/300883Johor Prince rains royal scorn on cancelled forum featuring

Nothing2Hide: Scathing remarks from Johor prince over no-show Najib

PETALING JAYA: The Crown Prince of Johor made some scathing remarks apparently aimed at the Prime Minister when the latter did not show up at the Nothing2Hide dialogue at Putra World Trade Centre on Friday. Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim posted on Johor Southern Tigers, the page of the Johor Football Association of which he is president, saying: “How can you have a dialogue called ‘Nothing2Hide’ featuring a person who has everything to hide? Obviously he won’t show up.” … Tunku Ismail’s post was removed several hours later. However, with no explanation, the post went up again on the JFA page, complete with visuals, at about 7pm. Tunku Ismail commented: “For those who had been entrusted the responsibility, do not blame people for losing confidence and trust in you, but think of why they no longer have the confidence and trust in you.” http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2015/06/05/scathing-remarks-from-tunku-ismail-over-non-appearance-of-pm-at-dialogue/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
