The People’s Parliament

Of unholy unions, pambu feting soonambu, and Mamak Kutty trying to scare this nation

Posted on April 30, 2013

The pre-nuptial pledges in place, Najib led his latest conquest into the bridal chamber.

Waythamoorthy.

What transpired behind closed doors between these two new lovers, I leave to your  imagination, but what hope springs forth from this unholy union?

zul noordin dicium lelaki IndiaZul Noordin bearing a tray of sireh for the Indians!

“Malaysia is like ‘sireh’ (betel leaf). The betel leaves are the Malays, the betel nut (pinang) are the Chinese, while the Indians are the ‘kapur’ (Malay for limestone paste).

“The portion for ‘soonambu’ (Tamil for limestone paste) might be small but it’s very important for the betel,” - Malaysiakini.

The pambu now slithering up to the soonambu!

This sinna pambu (small snake) is acting at the behest of the peria pambu (big snake) from Kerala, Mamak Kutty.

Malaysiakini reports :

‘He is not shy to discuss the controversial video whenever he takes the stage, using it as “evidence” of the “indoctrination of hate” by PAS and Pakatan Rakyat, on which he is now blaming his racist indiscretion.

“This is what they preach. They teach Malays to hate Chinese and Indians, and vice versa.

“And they even pit Malays to hate each other. For them, anyone who is not with them is an enemy,” he told some 300 Shah Alam MIC members’ .

This would  be laughable if it were not for the fact that this is all part of Mamak Kutty’s scheme to raise the spectre of May 13 again, sow hatred amongst the Malays towards the Chinese, and raise tensions between the races in time for polling day on 5th May.

Bridget Welsh, reporting through Malaysiakini, states thus :

“Less than one week before Malaysians cast their vote in what is arguably the most competitive election in history, the campaign has taken a worrying turn. In what has been part of a no-holds-barred strategy, the use of fear and division has come to the fore, especially on the part of the BN…

…Besides the issue of religion, there has been the open use of racial insecurity as a means to mobilise voters. The formula is one of old politics – that of the bygone Mahathir era. Malays have been told their position is going to be usurped by the Chinese, while the Chinese have been sent threatening letters suggesting another May 13 riot.

DAP leader Lim Kit Siang continues to be accused of provoking the 1969 riots, even though he was not in Peninsular Malaysia when they happened. Racial propaganda based on factual inaccuracies, such as the ‘Tanda Putera’ movie – reportedly standing in the wings of mass public showings and currently screened in private – has now become so common place that everything spouted raises questions of credibility”.

In my ceramah, I have warned as such.

MIC gets whacked over BN candidate’s Hindu remarks

“Too little too late” – that is how Tapah PKR candidate Vasantha Kumar has described MIC’s call not to support Zulkifli Noordin, the BN parliamentary candidate for Shah Alam.

He pointed out that the party only responded to his candidature about 12 days after caretaker prime minister Najib Abdul Razak’s announcement.

“What were the MIC and its leaders doing for the 12 days? Where were they?

“When Najib endorsed and made the announcement, it was in front of MIC president Palanivel. There was not even a whimper from them.

hindraf gathering 251109 t vasantha kumarOnly after realising that Indian voters all over the country were really angry, these leaders are opening their mouths,” said Vasantha Kumar (right).

“They got scared after SMSes, video clips and emails were going around asking Indians not to vote for the MIC or BN throughout the country. They now want to save their own skin,” he added.
……….

Apology showed no remorse’

“Zulkifli is not worthy of Indian support. If I were to say something disrespectful against the Muslims and then apologise, do you think they will ever accept?” he asked.

The former Hindraf member, detained under the ISA for about 18 months following its 2007 protest, said: “Zulkfli can apologise for all he wants but he has not uttered anything to say what he said was wrong. All that he was willing to say was that he was sorry.”

Vasantha added that if Zulkifli was not standing for election, he doubted that he would apologise.

“He needs our votes now, and he won in Kulim the last time with Indian votes. Otherwise, he won’t be apologetic now.”

Zul mocks the Rukunegara too

G Lavendran | April 26, 2013

A group of Indian graduates says the Perkasa leader should be charged under the Sedition Act 1984.

PETALING JAYA: Shah Alam Barisan Nasional candidate and former PAS and PKR member  Zulkifli Noordin should be hauled to the court for making a mockery of the principles of the Rukunegara.

His provocative and insulting statements against the Hindus and their faith goes against the very first tenet of the Rukunegara which is “Belief in God”.

“All citizens have the right and freedom to follow their own religion and practices,” a group of Indian UM graduates said in a statement here.

“Zulkifli should be charged under the Sedition Act 1984 for his statements belittling, hurting and showing little respect for Hindus and their practices,” they said.
………..

One of the graduates, P Sinnapar, 40, said this sort of ill-mannered behaviour will destroy the younger generation and bring about segregation.
……….

Sinnapar clarified that his group of graduates are not affiliated with any political party and does not want this issue to be politicised.

“We are apolitical, this issue has to be dealt in a straight-forward manner. The caretaker government should take immediate action against him to avoid further recurrence,” he said.

He also supported MIC vice-president M Saravanan’s statement that he will never forgive Zulkifli who is also a BN candidate even if he had apologised.

“We agree with Saravanan; he spoke as a member of the community and not as a politician. But he should have come forth and spoken up sooner,” he said.

PETALING JAYA: Vowing not to forgive the Barisan Nasional candidate for Shah Alam, MIC vice- president M Saravanan has advised Indians not to vote for the Perkasa leader.

bb

“I will never forgive him (Zulkifli). I will continue to tell Indians not to vote for him, he doesn’t deserve their votes.

“If I were to say something disrespectful towards Muslims or their beliefs and then apologise, do you think they will accept it?” he asked.

“It is the same, we are Malaysians and the thought of disrespecting other religion should never even cross our mind.

“I respect the Prime Minister’s (Najib Tun Razak) choice. But his candidacy degrades BN on the whole, he is a disgrace to the party,” said Saravanan, who is contesting the Tapah parliamentary seat.

N Devendren says that he was not paid anything.

“He (Zulkifli) clasped his hands and begged forgiveness…. It was touching and sincere. I am only human so I accepted it. If Pakatan Rakyat leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim could be forgiven and accepted by the people, why can’t Zulkifli be treated the same way?” he asked.

While he admits the peck on Zulkifli’s cheek might be perceived as “an extraordinary act of affection”, he does not regret it.

Indian ‘Judas’ unfazed

The man who has earned the ire of the Indian community by kissing Zulkifli Noordin on the cheek during nomination day, is unperturbed at being labeled ‘Judas’ for supporting the controversial Perkasa vice-president.

The Malay Mail caught up with N Devendren, who claims to be an MIC member, and has since nomination day earned widespread scorn over social media for his action.

“Life goes on, people especially the Indian community will have their say but in the end I have the right to support whom I choose to as it is my right,” said the 32-year-old bachelor businessperson.

Devendren denied claims he took money in exchange for a show of support for Zulkifili, who is standing under the “Friend of BN” ticket, against PAS incumbent Khalid Samad.

“I did not do it for money,” he said when met at the BN campaign centre in Section 23 here.

SELANGOR BN’s decision to field controversial Perkasa vice-chairperson Zulkifli Noordin for the Shah Alam parliamentary seat has been widely criticised but MCA president Chua Soi Lek backs the coalition’s choice.

No way Indians will forget Zul Noordin’s insults, Surendran slams Najib for BLATANT INSINCERITY

Written by  N Surendran

refer to the statement by caretaker PM Najib Razak on 22April 2013, calling upon people “to forget about” the gross insults that were made by Zulkifli Noordin against the Indian community and the Hindu religion.

This statement is a shocking direct interference by the PM into a criminal case. Police reports have been lodged against on Zulkifli’s remarks calling for action to be taken under the Penal code. Zulkifli’s remarks were clearly a criminal act punishable under section 298A of the Penal Code. Clearly Najib is now condoning the criminal act by Zulkifli Noordin who is the BN / Perkasa candidate for Shah Alam.

Interference

Despite the seriousness of Zulkifli Noordin’s remarks, the Attorney General and the IGP have yet to take any action against him. Najib’s statement now makes it clear that there has been instructions given by UMNO and the BN government to the IGP/AG not to take action against Zulkifli Noordin.

This was done to enable Najib to field Zulkifli Noordin as a candidate in the General Election. This interference by the caretaker PM seriously undermines the functioning of the criminal justice system. In light of Najib’s statement, can we expect the police and the AG to take action against Zulkifli Noordin?

Double standards

In contrast with Zulkifli Noordin’s case Keadilan leader Tian Chua was hastily charged under the Sedition Act for the remarks he had made against UMNO. By charging Tian Chua and letting off Zulkifli Noordin, Najib has practiced double standards in the administration of the country.

We call upon the caretaker PM, the AG and the IGP to take immediate action against Zulkifli Noordin under S.298A of the Penal Code; and we further call upon Najib and Umno BN to cease all interference and undermining of independent institutions such as the police and the AG’s office.

Only Zul Noordin utters racist words, no other PAS leader, says Khalid

By Zurairi AR and Md Izwan
April 23, 2013

SHAH ALAM, April 23 — PAS’s Khalid Samad targeted his Shah Alam opponent Datuk Zulkifli Noordin’s claims of learning racism from Pakatan Rakyat (PR), telling a ceramah here last night that no party leader from the Islamist party has ever been heard to utter such remarks.

His voice already hoarse just two days after Nomination Day, Khalid ripped at the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate’s claim of making the hurtful remarks only when in PAS.

“If that was the kind of attitude and teaching that PAS brought, how come he was the only one who gave that kind of racist view? There are thousands of PAS members, hundreds of PAS leaders, nobody else spoke like him. Right?” Khalid asked the crowd at Dataran Kemerdekaan here, who replied with a resounding yes.

Speaking to a mostly Malay crowd, the incumbent Shah Alam MP asked voters to kick the Perkasa vice-president out of the contest for his racist views.

“He is a good speaker, so a lot of people were duped. It is my responsibility as a PAS member who was once duped, I have to warn you of him,” Khalid told the crowd.

The decision to field Zulkifli has earned the ruling coalition much criticism, not just due to his reputation as an Islamist hardliner via his position in the Malay rights advocacy group Perkasa, but also the recent controversies over his insults against the Hindu community.

C. Supayah, the division’s vice-chairman told The Malaysian Insider, siad that he was against the choice of Zulkifli Noordin as a candidate in Shah Alam. Zulkifli Nordin spoke against the Indians:

1 Malaysian Indians have been especially angered by his candidacy due to a video in which Zulkifli refers to them as “Keling”, which they consider derogatory.
2 In another video  he questioned the purity of the Ganges River, considered sacred by Hindus, and asked an Indian trader why Hindu gods did not prevent the man’s shop from being flooded.
3 BN’s failure to field a candidate against Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali in the parliamentary constituency of Pasir Mas is seen as Umno supporting Perkasa.
4 Umno Shah Alam chief Datuk Ahmad Nawawi Mohd Zin for leading the 2009 cow’s head protest against the construction of a Hindu temple in the Muslim-majority area.

BN will lose Selangor because of Zul Noordin, Vell Paari warns

BY CLARA CHOOI
ASSISTANT NEWS EDITOR
April 17, 2013

KUALA LUMPUR, April 17 – The Barisan Nasional (BN) will lose in Selangor this May 5 if the coalition insists on fielding Datuk Zulkifli Noordin in Shah Alam, MIC’s S. Vell Paari warned today in a text message to party president Datuk G. Palanivel.

The MIC leader said that by fielding Zulkifli, BN is risking the Indian vote, which he said would likely become the deciding vote in states like Selangor, now ruled by Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

According to the text message delivered to The Malaysian Insider from a party source tonight, Vell urged Palanivel to convey his concerns to Datuk Seri Najib Razak and asked for “favourable action” from the BN chairman, warning of a “disastrous situation” if not action is taken.

“Dear Datuk Seri G.Palanivel, Zulkifli Nordin being a BN candidate in Shah Alam is an insult to the Hindus in Malaysia. Everywhere people are getting emotional,” he said in the message, which was also sent to all MIC central working committee members.

The son of former party chief Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellul noted that in there are some 15,000 Indian voters in Shah Alam, 31,000 in Kota Raja, 21,000 in Kapar and 17,000 in Subang, many among whom he claimed were angered by Najib’s selection of Zulkifli.

“We could lose nearly 50 per cent to 70 per cent of Indian votes which could result in loss for MIC candidates especially in Selangor but with Indian voters being a deciding vote, it could result in BN failing to capture Selangor,” he said, adding a warning that the sentiment is also spreading to other states.

“Dato Seri we cannot be keeping silent and letting everyone to walk away with an apology after insulting our religion and community.

“Our leaders on the ground especially in Shah Alam are being abused verbally,” he said.

Vell ended the text message by saying he was merely observing party decorum by seeking action on Zulkifli’s candidacy through an appeal to the party president.

“This is my strategic advice as strategic director,” he said.

“All this while, there have been calls by various quarters in MIC for action to be taken against the likes of Ridhuan Tee for what they described as insensitive remarks made against the Indian community,” said Gobind in a press statement.

BN components divided over Zulkifli

K Pragalath | April 17, 2013

PPP expects ripples over Zulkifli’s candidacy but MCA believes that it will not have an impact on Chinese voters, and DAP questions MIC’s silence.

PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional component parties have mixed views with regard to Zulkifli Noordin’s candidacy in Shah Alam.

Zulkifli who won the Kulim Bandar Baharu parliamentary seat on PKR’s ticket in the 12th general election turned independent in 2010.

The Perkasa vice president became embroiled in a controversy last month when a recording of him belittling the Hindu faith went viral. Since then he has apologised to the Hindus and claimed he said that during his time in PAS.

PPP’s Kepong candidate A Chandrakumanan did not rule out the possibility of voters, especially the Indians, having an axe to grind following BN’s decision to field Zulkifli.

MCA veteran Yap Pian Hon, who is contesting in the Serdang parliamentary seat, said that Zulkifli’s candidacy would not affect the Chinese votes.

He also defended the decision to field Zulkifli in Shah Alam which is represented by PAS’ Khalid Samad.

“BN and Umno have considered Zulkifli’s nomination thoroughly. It is a political strategy to fight PAS,” he said.

Perkasa vice-president Zulkifli Noordin has been picked as the BN candidate to face Khalid Samad of PAS in the Shah Alam parliamentary seat.

This is a face-off that will see them repeat their rivalry, though this time, from opposing sides of the political divide. They were colleagues in Pakatan Rakyat at one time.

Asked last week about the possibility of his former compatriot contesting against him, Khalid had been nonplussed, but welcomed his ‘friend’ to his stronghold.

The people of Shah Alam know about him and Zulkifli, Khalid had said, and are mature enough to make the right choice.

AN APOLOGY LACED WITH LIES!

Malaysian Chronicle

Zul Noordin, LYING AGAIN: Murugan statue only 7 yrs ago, how can comments be 10 yrs old?

Written by  Satees Muniandy

I am not surprised, Zulkifli Nordin, the MP for Kulim Bandar Bahru chose to lie in making his insincere apology for making those comments insulting Hindu religion, which caused many police reports lodged against him nationwide.

Zulkifli Nordin, according to the mainstream media reports had apologized for making those comments “10 years ago, when he was in PAS”. I doubt Zulkifli’s statement, as in the video that he is making those insulting comments, Zulkifli Nordin seen referring to the Murugan Statue in Batu Caves as “Itu Murugan tongkat 14 tingkat” and “Tuhan Murugan yang pegang tongkat macam di Batu Caves tu”.

The Murugan Statue in Batu Caves only unveiled in the Thaipusam year 2006, that is 7 years ago. 10 years ago, there was no tallest Murugan statue at Batu Caves. So, it is very clear that Zulkifli Nordin is lying in his statement of apology. MIC might be satisfied with his insincere apology, but not the Indian-Hindu community in Malaysia.

This shows, this man has no sense of remorse and his apology was insincere. He merely wants to blame PAS for his own stupidity in making those insulting comments.

What type of Islam is Zul & Perkasa practising

I have been in Kelantan, a state where PAS ruling for more than 20 years now. I have seen how people of different religion are living peacefully in Kelantan. Kelantan Govt or PAS does not insult or infringe the rights of the people of different faith practice their religion freely. It is also notable that there are many Buddhist Wat and Hindu Temples throughout the state.

I have never heard before Tok Guru Nik Aziz had insulted other religions and faith. It is not the Islam that PAS believes in. It is practice of extremists like Zul Nordin and Perkasa to insult other religions and faiths. So, Zulkifli Nordin should stop spewing lies against Pakatan Rakyat parties for his own mistake.

I urge the Police to take action against Zulkifli Nordin immediately, since now he admitted making those insulting comments. A statement of insincere apology from Zulkifli Nordin does not change anything. If Zulkifli Nordin is not charged and punished for his seditious comment, it will create an impression and bad example, as though one can say anything as they wish and they will not be punished after they apologized.

Zulkifli Noordin apologises to Indian community over remarks in video clip

April 01, 2013

BALING, April 1 – Kulim-Bandar Baharu MP Datuk Zulkifli Noordin apologised today for hurting the feelings of the Indian community in his speech which he said was made 10 years ago.

State news agency Bernama reported Zulkifli as saying the speech was made when he was a PAS member back then and admitted it was a mistake and expressed remorse over the statement as it was inappropriate.

PAS sacked the lawyer in 2008 when he contested the general elections that year under the PKR banner, with several leaders saying he held extremist views.

PKR sacked him in 2010 and he then became close to Umno and the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) and later made a vice-president of the Malay rights group Perkasa.

In the Bernama report, Zulkifli questioned the opposition parties why they were using his past speeches now as a weapon to damage his image and reputation as he is now pro-government.

“I was a lawyer for opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his first sodomy trial and was naive back then,” he told reporters after giving a speech here, today.

Bishop Paul Tan is incensed over the video which shows MP Zulkifli Noordin belittling the Hindu faith and demands action from the ’1Malaysia’ government.

KUALA LUMPUR: The video recording of a member of Parliament belittling the Hindu faith has prompted a Catholic priest to question the government’s double standard in dealing with such matters.

Bishop Paul Tan pointed out that the present ruling government had not hauled up any Muslim who uttered seditious words and made seditious gestures against those of other religions while it acted against those who stated unpleasant things about Islam.

The head of the Malacca-Johor diocese was responding to the video of Kulim Bandar Bahru MP Zulkifili Noordin who mocked how statues of Hindu deities could not prevent a flood in Masjid India here.

The video, which was uploaded on YouTube, had since gone viral.

Zulkifli is also the vice-president of Perkasa, whose president Ibrahim Ali had also earned the wrath of Tan when he called for the torching of Malay bibles that used the term Allah.

The bishop recounted how he had in the past called on the government to take action against both Ibrahim and Perkasa patron and former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad over this issue.

NGOs, PKR demand action on MP for insult to Hindus

Eight groups comprising NGOs and PKR leaders held a small protest today to express their disappointment over police inaction against Kulim-Bandar Baru MP Zulkifli Noordin for insulting the Hindus.

They said they have lodged several police reports against the independent parliamentarian at police stations across the nation two days ago, and threatened a protest by thousands of people next week against Zulkifli if there is still no action taken.

“If it (the insult) was aimed at Islam, I think the person belittling the religion would have been arrested under the Sedition Act within 48 hours.

“But why do the Home Ministy and the police pick favours when it comes to other religions?” Tamilar Action Force deputy secretary-general Kannan Ramasamy said.

However, the group of about 25 people appear to be divided on the action they wanted taken against the Perkasa leader.

Malaysian Indians Progressive Association secretary-general S Barathidasan wanted Zulkifli to apologise, while Port Dickson assemblyperson M Ravi wants him to be punished.

“Make him an example to people who insult other races,” Ravi said during the protest held in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.

The case for mutual respect in Malaysia — The Malaysian Insider

March 29, 2013

MARCH 29 — Here we go again. A video clip of Datuk Zulkifli Noordin making remarks that Hindus say are disparaging to their faith is making the rounds.

Rightly so, the Hindus are upset. Police reports are being lodged. A protest is being planned. The authorities are quiet.

If we follow Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon’s reasoning, no one should bother with Zulkifli. And the whole thing will go away.

Will it? This is a lawmaker who started out as a hero to some people while in the opposition bench. He left them and crossed over enough to be friendly to the government of the day and makes remarks that offend other faiths.

What can the government do? Perhaps, it can be as quick to investigate the matter as it has for the alleged sedition by Batu MP Chua Tian Chang.

There cannot be double standards here. We cannot have anyone, especially an MP, who denigrates people of different faiths.

Silence from the government reflects tacit approval and reinforces the view that some Malaysians have privileges to get away with anything, just like those who dragged a cow head in Shah Alam in 2009 had excuses given for them by a minister.

Malaysians and Malaysia must practise mutual respect for each other’s faiths. Not just mutual tolerance. Anything less than that will be disaster for Malaysia’s multi-racial and multi-faith population.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 — A umbrella body for Hindus said today that it had previously complained about apparent insults to Hindus made by independent lawmaker Datuk Zulkifli Noordin, but no action was taken “because he is a Muslim.”

Hindu Sangam said today a video of Zulkifli, making what the opposition has said are vicious attacks against Hinduism, had originally surfaced in 2011.

“At that point in time we already told the government, but they are reluctant to take action I think because he is Muslim and vice president of Perkasa,” Hindu Sangam president Datuk R S Mohan Shan told The Malaysian Insider today.

MIC leaders tell Zul Noordin to ‘shut up’ and apologise

KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 — MIC leaders told Datuk Zulkifli Noordin today to “shut up”, apologise and retract his remarks that allegedly disparaged the Hindu religion.

The Independent Kulim-Bandar Baharu MP was recorded in a video uploaded yesterday on YouTube as questioning the purity of the Ganges River in India, which the Hindus consider sacred, claiming that chicken carcasses were floating in it.

“If you don’t have in-depth knowledge, you must shut up and keep quiet,” MIC central working committee member Datuk T. Rajagopalu told The Malaysian Insider today.

“He’s not fit to be an MP. He’s a half-baked lawyer and he’s not a true Muslim man. A true Muslim man would never condemn other religions,” he added.

Rajagopalu said Zulkifli, who is also the Perkasa vice-president and a Sharia lawyer, should read up on Hinduism and the Ganges River before commenting.

MIC vice-president Datuk S. K. Devamany demanded that Zulkifli apologise and withdraw his remarks.

“How dare he do this?” said Devamany.

“He’s a very irresponsible member of Parliament. We’re trying to create harmony and peace and the concept of 1 Malaysia, and trying to engage all communities, and harmonise everybody’s feelings…He should retract it and be sensitive to the needs of the people, the Hindus,” he added.

Zul Noordin asks why Hindu gods did not stop flood

UPDATED @ 03:16:29 PM 29-03-2013

KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 ― Perkasa vice-president Datuk Zulkifli Noordin has been slammed by Hindu leaders after delivering a religious lecture recently in which he tells of how he questioned an Indian trader here on why Hindu gods did not prevent the man’s shop from being flooded.

The independent Kulim-Bandar Baharu lawmaker also questioned the purity of the Ganges River, also known as Ganga in India, which is considered sacred by Hindus.

“I have been to Sungai Ganga before. How can you say it’s pure? There are chicken carcasses and small sticks floating,” Zulkifli was recorded as saying in a video titled “Zulkifli Nordin (PERKASA) menghina agama hindu” uploaded on YouTube yesterday

PKR vice-president N. Surendran called Zulkifli’s remarks a “vicious attack” on Malaysian Indians.

Clip shows UMNO-backed MP insulting Hindu deities

Harakahdaily, 29 March 2013

Mar 29: UMNO-backed member of parliament Zulkifli Noordin’s public insult to the Hindu religion as captured on a video clip now available on YouTube has been condemned by PKR vice president N Surendran.

“The words uttered by Zulkifli Noordin amount to one of the worst ever attacks upon a major religion in this country,” said Surendran in a statement to Harakahdaily today.

The five-and-half minute undated clip (see here) shows Zulkifli (right), sacked in 2010 by PKR and who was subsequently appointed as BN ally Perkasa’s vice president, mocking Hindu deities.

In it, he recalled his conversation with a man in Jalan Masjid India, whose shop selling Hindu religious paraphernalia had been destroyed by flood water. Zulkifli mocked the seller by asking him why the Hindu deities in the shop did not protect it from flood.

Among others, Zulkifli, using a familiar accent to mock Malaysian Indians, described one of the Hindu deities as “tuhan kepala gajah“.

“The more sophisticated one even has a blinking LED light,” he told his audience, before recounting his conversation with the seller on the damage to his business.

Tuhan pun kena ka? (Was God also destroyed?)” he asked the Hindu business owner. “Apa macam tuhan pun kena? (How come God was affected too?)”

He said people were jostling to buy damaged statues being sold at discount, including a lady who bought the elephant deity, or ‘Ganesha’, which had a broken trunk.

“I asked her why buy this damaged god, she replied, ‘Never mind, I will go home and stick a plaster to it’.

“Their god has to be plastered!” Zuklifli jested, greeted by laughter from the audience.

“They knew it’s stupid,” he added.

Second attack by UMNO spokesman

The remark by Zulkifli is the second by an UMNO propagandist directed at Hinduism.

Last month, Chinese-Muslim convert Ridhuan Tee Abdullah, a virulently pro-UMNO spokesman who appears on government-organised religious talk shows, made fun of the Hindu festival of Thaipusam, complaining of the traffic congestions caused by it.

In a video, over five minutes long, Zulkifli made statements that “grossly insults and ridicules Hindus and their religion,” said PKR vice-president N Surendran in a statement today.

“The words uttered by Zulkifli amount to one of the worst-ever attacks upon a major religion in this country.”

Surendran (left) urged the attorney-general and inspector-general of police to investigate the independent Kulim-Bandar Baharu MP under Section 298A of the Penal Code.

The whole scene is reflecting how this MP….is lacking off. First, he should support the PM to achieve unity and scores. Secondly, he should have deep knowledge of the religion & their ritual before making fun (including all the cows who was laughing behind his joke).Thirdly, it wont take any longer for the other to be bad to you and your belief. As a MP…brain must be used to develop the country and the people, not to humiliate mankind. Universe the god for all, we differ it with our own way. I believe Islam never teach to humiliate each other. WAKE UP & learn to respect others.
