DAP MP lodges report over fake quote on MH370
DAP’s Seputeh MP Teresa Kok has lodged a police report over a fake quote attributed to her on social media in relation to the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines’ (MAS) flight MH370.
In her police report, Kok said she was falsely attributed a quote which blamed Muslim terrorists for the loss of the Boeing 777-200.
The quote read: “Who can deny it if I were to say the incident of the missing MH370 was perpetrated by Muslims terrorists – YB Teresa Kok, Seputeh MP”.
“According to investigation by my colleagues, the post is suspected to have started from the Facebook page of “Kami sokong DAP diharamkan seumur hidup” (We support DAP to be outlawed forever).
“It was later circulated in other places,” said Kok who lodged a police report at the Petaling police station this afternoon.
Kok said she has not made any statements about the MH370 incident since it was first reported in the media.
“The posting contained a false statement that has tarnished my image as a member of Parliament and caused me to be criticised.
“I hope the police will investigate this matter seriously,” she said.

Kok claims eggy handshake was hatched on Facebook
GEORGE TOWN, March 6 — DAP’s Teresa Kok today alleged that an egg-filled handshake she received last night was part of a campaign incubated on Facebook.
Pointing out a Facebook account operated under the name “Mamluk Qalawun”, Kok said a challenge was issued yesterday “all Penang youths” to “bagi salam” (greet) Kok when she attended a ceramah organised by the Malaysian Young People’s Solidarity (SAMM) and Permatang Pauh PAS Youth.
“It is obviously pre-planned and we have been very cautious after hearing about it, and we had received messages that I will be attacked last night,” she told the Malay Mail Online in a telephone interview.
Rejecting allegations by Penang Opposition leader Datuk Jahara Hamid that Pakatan Rakyat (PR) had staged the whole incident for publicity, Kok said the Facebook posting is evidence enough that the incident was premeditated by rivals.
“Even the erroneous news alert by Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia alleging that I had been slapped last night showed that they are indirectly encouraging people to openly attack me,” she said.
So sapa yg pakai baju sama dengan budak tu pakai semua kena haria. Dia cakap keselamatan dia terancam.
Not exactly an egg-citing incident!
During her ceramah, Kok told the crowd that she did not insult the Malays, their religion or the soldiers who fought during the Lahad Datu incursion in Sabah with her video.
She said the crowd remained calm during her presentation, even when she told them that they should judge the matter for themselves after viewing her 11-minute “creation”, where she acted as a host to three Feng Shui masters.
“I also told the crowd that Pakatan Rakyat leaders are being continously attacked, for example PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim with the sodomy charges and DAP national chief Karpal Singh with the sedition charge,” she added.
Kok had been invited by Solidarity Anak Muda Malaysia (Samm) to show and explain the content of her video to the public.
Accompanying Kok during the ceramah was DAP’s Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim and PAS’ Changkat Jering assemblyperson Nizar Jamaluddin.
Sim, when contacted by Malaysiakini, said he had initially not planned to attend the ceramah but changed his mind after being informed that Kok would be present in his constituency.
“We had heard from sources that there would be trouble, so I came to see if I could help.” [by Susan Loone, Malaysiakini. For full report, pls subscribe to Mkini]
An Umno-owned Malay daily had sent out a text message alert shortly after the incident, stating that she had been slapped by an unknown man at the ceramah.
However, the erroneous message was quickly corrected with another text message alert.
“They (the daily) have nothing better to do? They want to put me on national news…make sure that I am harmed,” she said.
Teresa Kok had egg smashed into her hand at Penang ceramah, vows to carry on
BY LOOI SUE-CHERN
March 06, 2014
An egg was smashed into the hand of Seputeh MP Teresa Kok at a ceramah in Permatang Pauh, Penang, last night.
Kok, who has been at the centre of a controversy since the release of her “Onederful Malaysia” Chinese New Year video clip, had just finished making a speech at the event in Taman Cermai, Sama Gagah, about 11.30pm when a man walked up to her, as if he wanted to shake her hand.
When she started to greet the man, he smashed the egg on her extended hand.
The man then coolly walked away but was cornered by angry Pakatan Rakyat members. He was subsequently taken away by policemen who were on duty at the ceramah.
Kok, who is also DAP vice-chairman, was quickly escorted away from the site.
When contacted by The Malaysian Insider early this morning, Kok said she would not let such incidents intimidate her.
“I will just carry on. Such incidents and threats will not make me cower and stay home.
“I believe that I am not in the wrong, despite what I have been accused of,” she said.

Teresa gets FIERY warning from Malay group: APOLOGISE within 10 days or else…
KUALA LUMPUR- Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) Selangor has demanded that Teresa Kok apologise for her “Onederful Malaysia CNY 2014″ video clip.
In issuing the Seputeh member of parliament the ultimatum, JMM president Omar Saleh said Kok had 10 days to make a public apology.
“JMM Selangor also urges the government to revoke Kok’s citizenship,” he said after handing over a memorandum at Kok’s office in Seputeh.
Omar said JMM Selangor members would hold a demonstration in front of Kok’s office if she failed to issue the apology within the allocated time.
The non-governmental organisation, in voicing its disapproval of the video clip, said Kok and the three actors in the video had provoked and insulted the nation’s leader and his wife.
“We have seen that even Chinese society and professionals had criticised the video,” he said

‘Onederful Malaysia’ has Malay subtitles!
Teresa Kok has now included Malay subtitles in her satirical video “Onederful Malaysia”, which had infuriated certain quarters to the point of slaughtering chickens and smearing her photo with the blood.
In a statement today, the DAP MP said the subtitles were inserted to prove that the political satire does not belittle or insult any race or religion.

Red paint was this morning found splashed on the staircase leading to the service centre of the DAP’s Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.
A dead chicken and a photograph of Kok were also found about 9am at her officer in Kuchai Lama, Kuala Lumpur, by the manager of the office block management company, Sim Foo Lan.
Sim then informed Kok and lodged a police report on the matter.
Speaking to the press at the scene, Kok said she believes the incident is related to her controversial political satire video clip ‘Onederful Malaysia CNY 2014’.

Red paint, chicken carcass a bully act on Teresa Kok, says DAP
BY LOOI SUE-CHERN

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng (pic) said those responsible for splashing red paint and placing a chicken carcass at party vice-president Teresa Kok’s service centre are trying to bully her.
“They are trying to bully this lady but I am sure she is not going to back down.
“She is fighting for the truth,” Lim, who is also Penang chief minister said today.
It was reported this morning that Kok’s service centre was vandalised barely two weeks after a coalition of Islamic non-governmental organisations (NGOs) offered a RM2,000 reward to anyone who dared to slap her over her controversial “Onederful” Chinese New Year video last month.

It’s obvious Kok was insulting Rosmah, says NGO
One of the pressure groups livid with Seputeh MP Teresa Kok’s Chinese New Year satire explained they are angry because the character spoofed was recognisably the prime minister’s wife.
“If we see one of the characters, the woman (in the video), she looks exactly (sebiji) like Rosmah Mansor. With the style, the hand bag, the rings.
“That is an insult. YB Seputeh Teresa should be taken to court because (her video) had elements of mocking and insulting our leaders,” said Abdul Rani Kulup, Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia (MJMM) chairperson.
He was referring to actor Lim Ching Miau who played a feng shui expert Mrs Jit in the video entitled “Onederful Malaysia CNY 2014″ which poked fun at the government on public issues.
MJMM, one of the pro-government lobbyists protesting the video that led to calls to slap Kok and the slaughtering chickens and spilling the poor animals’ blood on her image attempted to explain their anger in a joint interview with Malaysiakini and KiniTV on Friday.
‘Slap offer not an offence if Kok not slapped’
Malaysiakini readers slam lawyer Mohd Khairul Azam Abdul Aziz for saying that as it stands, the offer remains just an offer and not a threat.
He explained that should someone slap Kok and the reward is paid to the assailant, only then could the person who paid the reward be tried for collusion or conspiracy.
“If it happens, there can be investigation for conspiracy or collusion, but that is a separate issue.

‘Cash for slap’ logic being turned on its head
YOURSAY ‘And by the same logic, to utter threats against the royal institution is not sedition.’
Ferdtan: Is Mohd Khairul Azam Abdul Aziz a qualified lawyer? He must have thought he is smart to apply contract laws to criminal laws.
“He described the offer as an ‘invitation to treat’ – a contractual law term for a non-binding offer expressing willingness to negotiate a deal.”
An inducement to offer is mainly on the selling of goods, usually in shops. Say we can accept Mohd Khairul Azam’s argument (on the law of contract), he is still wrong as the price tag (RM1,200 to slap Seputeh MP Teresa Kok) is stated and fixed. It is a definitive offer, and not an “invitation to treat”.
What stupidity. You say that as no direct threat is made by the Muslim NGOs themselves (leaving others to take up the offer), then it is not a threat.
Mr Lawyer, can we call for an assassination of an individual, putting the price tag of RM1,200, an “invitation to treat”?
Applying as you said, “In this case, no direct threat is made by any party. No one step forward to say they want to slap (or kill in my example) anyone. No one. That is the difference between a threat and a mere offer.”
It is akin to the ‘shoot his mouth off’ Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who said that an act is not criminal as long as it has not been performed. Mohd Khairul Azam must be investigated whether he has a valid law degree.
Armageddon: This NGO lawyer explained that should someone slap Teresa Kok and the reward is paid to the assailant, only then the person who paid the reward could be tried for collusion or conspiracy.
What if the reward is not paid, is the slapping a crime? Why then people are arrested for making seditious remarks if no crime had actually taken place resulting from their seditious remarks.
I am not a lawyer but I can easily differentiate between a stupid and a smart lawyer.
Yoong John Yen: This is a very ridiculous statement by Mohd Khairul Azam. Is it therefore not considered intimidation or a threat to a person’s safety if someone made an ‘invitation to treat’ people to kill/attack/intimidate/etc, etc, a person until someone actually commits the act?
This is definitely a very poor line of reasoning. Indeed, there’s little point to take action after the act is done as the damage is already done and by the time the authorities act, the perpetrators would be long gone.
Hang Babeuf: And by the same logic, to utter threats against the royal institution is not sedition. It becomes sedition only when you act, take up arms overtly to overthrow the monarchy.
How stupid an argument is this? If intellectual dwarfs like this one can become lawyers, it is now wonder that the nation’s legal system is in chaotic disarray.
Toonarmy: Mohd Khairul Azam, you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. It used to be that only qualified people are called to the Bar.
Clearly braying donkeys are now being admitted as well. You need to be slapped hard for giving such an idiotic advice.
Anon1: I fail to see what the laws of contract have anything to do with criminal laws and criminal acts. Obviously, this lawyer does not know anything about inchoate offences.
Lim Chong Leong: So people can put out contracts to hitmen to kill and it is not considered a crime?
The crime of conspiracy to commit a crime need not be the act of the crime itself but the planning, instigation or just incitement to commit it.
What kind of lawyers are we admitting to the Bar these days? Can the Bar Council please take action against such lawyers who bring shame to the profession.
FairMind: Confusing criminal law with law of contract is bad enough, this lawyer went on record in a press conference demonstrating his ignorance of his legal knowledge and wrongly advised his clients in full view of the public.
Just Me: The Ah Long will be extremely please with this. Now they can go around threatening people and then defend themselves saying that since they have not harm the person, it’s okay. Or is it?

PPIM distances itself from MP ‘slap offer’
The Islamic Consumers Association of Malaysia (PPIM) today distanced itself from the offer to “slap” DAP parliamentarian Teresa Kok at a gathering of Malay NGOs in which it took part.
PPIM secretary-general Dr Ma’amor Osman (left) said PPIM was not directly involved in making the initial offer of RM500 for anyone to slap the Seputeh MP over her controversial Chinese New Year satirical video.
The offer was later increased to RM1,200.
“I hereby deny the involvement of PPIM in offering money to anyone who slaps Teresa Kok because this is not our stand,” Ma’amor said during a press conference in Kuala Lumpur this morning.
Her said the PPIM activist who made the offer, Mustaffa Hamzah, did so in his capacity as the spokesperson for the gathering and not on behalf of PPIM.
“From the few NGOs that were involved, we were with them and it happened to be that Mustaffa was the spokesperson for the entire group,” he said.
“The offer never came from PPIM,” Ma’amor said, while insisting that his association never promoted violence.

WARNING TO ALL FAT WOMEN in M’sia: Don’t walk, talk or have big hair like ROSMAH / LO-SI-MA
Written by Malaysia Chronicle
KUALA LUMPUR – It looks like the speculation that Prime Minister Najib Razak’s wife Rosmah Mansor was behind the controversial crackdown on a video lampooning her husband’s mismanagement of the economy and their ultra extravagant lifestyles while the man in the street suffered from sky-rocketing costs of living, might just be true!
The … sorry to say this but let’s call a spade a spade … the FAT actress Lim Ching Miau who acted as a feng shui expert in the video has been hauled by the Malaysian cops.
“This is ridiculous. Somebody in the police force must be trying to be funny. Are they trying to send the message that anyone who dares to imitate or impersonate Rosmah Mansor will be jailed?” MP for Batu Tian Chua told Malaysia Chronicle.
Meanwhile, according to Malaysiakini, Ching Miau is due to give her statement on Tuesday. She claims she was mimicking the late Lydia Shum, a Hong Kong actress much-loved for her motherly ways, beautiful skin and comically-obese shape.
“I was summoned under Section 111 of Criminal Procedure Code (as a witness), to give a statement to the police at 2pm tomorrow,” said Ching Miau.
“I imitated Lydia Shum (a late Hong Kong comedian and artiste). I don’t know how I ended up becoming Rosmah. I thought I just look like Lydia. I have watched her acting ever since my childhood.”
Only in Malaysia, police chase video stars, not thugs
There are days when the police are super efficient, like today, when they called in an actress to give a statement about her role in Seputeh MP Teresa Kok’s controversial Chinese New Year video.
Then there are days when the police drag their feet to investigate crimes such as the group which slaughtered two chickens, splattered the fowls’ blood and offered a RM1,200 reward to the first person to slap Kok for the video.
And what about real police work, like making sure the streets are safe and peaceful from thugs?
Instead, the police want to question Lim Ching Miau, 32, at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters tomorrow over the 11-minute video clip, which featured Kok as a feng shui host interviewing three panelists, poking fun on a variety of issues such as the current education system in Malaysia and last year’s terrorist intrusion in Sabah.
The DAP lawmaker is being investigated under Section 505 (b) for making “statements conducing to public mischief and Section 233 (1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act for improper use of network
facilities or network service.
Strangely enough, the police have yet to give a status report on the people who have offered the reward to slap her, which Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has dismissed as nothing serious.
Is he and the police waiting for a crime to happen before taking action?
Or really, acting in a video clip, an unfunny one at that, is a much more serious crime than inciting people to slap someone?
In any other country, calling the actress in would be seen as intimidation.
But the police should also remember something: Malaysians are no longer cowed by intimidation or threats.
THE POLICE WANT ALL THREE FOR QUESTIONING!

Actors in Kok’s video to record statement tomorrow
PETALING JAYA: The three actors in Seputeh MP Teresa Kok’s controversial Onederful Malaysia CNY 2014 video are to be hauled in for questioning at the Travers police station on Tuesday.
Acting city CID chief ACP Khairi Ahrasa confirmed this on Monday, adding they would be questioned as witnesses under Section 111 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Around 300 police reports have been lodged against Kok’s video where she posed as a feng shui talk show host and had “panellists” poke fun at various national issues, including the education system, rising cost of living, public safety and the foreign intrusion into Sabah in February last year.

“I was summoned under Section 111 of Criminal Procedure Code (as a witness), to give a statement to the police at 2pm tomorrow,” said Lim, 32, who starred as a feng shui expert in the “Onederful Malaysia CNY 2014 video.

We’ll do it again if Malays are insulted, say chicken-slap protesters
The Home Ministry’s decision to dismiss the “chicken and slap” Islamic coalition’s threats as nothing serious appears to have emboldened their leaders as they now warn of more protests if “things do not change”.
The “Council of Islamic NGOs”, which comprise Umno-linked groups, said it was not afraid of the consequences and showed no remorse over the threat on Thursday where members slaughtered two chickens and offered a RM1,200 reward to anyone who slaps Seputeh MP Teresa Kok for her satirical video which offended them.
“If the politicians continue with their chauvinistic attitude, we will hold another protest. We are not afraid,” Pertubuhan Permuafakatan Majlis Ayahanda Malaysia (Permas) secretary-general Zulkifli Sharif told The Malaysian Insider.
Zulkifli led the group in the protest against Kok and other DAP leaders, a stunt which Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had dismissed by saying that “slapping is not a threat”.
“Why do we need to investigate that? Slapping is not a threat. If they say murder, then it is a threat,” the minister said yesterday.
Pertubuhan Kebajikan Insan Bakti Malaysia (Perkib) president Mohd Mokhtar Ghazali, who had joined in the protest, said the group had “nothing to worry about”.
“If we are brave enough to do it, then we are brave enough to face the consequences.
Prove anti-Malay, anti-Islam claim and I’ll ask Teresa Kok to apologise, says Kit Siang
Lim Kit Siang has promised today said he would ask Teresa Kok to apologise and withdraw her “Onderful Malaysia” video if anyone can show that the video is anti-Malay or anti-Islam .
The DAP adviser said he watched the 11-minute video closely several times but could not find anything that is remotely un-Islamic.
Instead, Lim said the video was a “stinging critique” on the alleged failures of the Najib administration to resolve pressing national concerns.
“We can agree or disagree as to whether Teresa’s video was good, bad or even atrocious… but what is completely unacceptable is resort to lies and falsehoods to accuse Teresa’s video as anti-Malay and anti-Islam,” he said in a statement today.
“I will ask Teresa to withdraw and apologise for the ‘Onederful Malaysia’ video if anyone can show there is any part which is anti-Malay and anti-Islam,” the Gelang Patah MP said.

No TV2 sitcom actors in CNY video, says Kok
KAJANG, Feb 9 ― DAP MP Teresa Kok today denied that she had used any actors from a local Chinese sitcom series in her latest Chinese New Year video, as she criticised national broadcaster RTM for discriminating against the station’s Chinese programmes.

“Today I saw (pictures) of all those who acted in 88 Kopi(tiam) in the Chinese papers, I don’t even know any of them. I urge RTM to stop discriminating against Chinese programmes,” she said when door-stopped at the Dong Zhong Chinese New Year luncheon here.

Bounties aplenty on Twitterjaya to slap Zahid
Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s dismissal of threats to slap a DAP MP as a non-issue, has emboldened Malaysians to offer their own bounties.
But unlike the group of Muslim NGOs who offered up to RM1,200 for anyone who can slap Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, netizens offered rewards to those brave enough to slap some sense into Ahmad Zahid.
The bounties offered went as low as 5 sen to as high as RM1,500, with some netizens organising fundraisers for the ’cause’.
Tweets on the matter in both English and Bahasa Malaysia continued to pour in from Twitterjaya – a monicker for the Malaysian Twittersphere – until late yesterday, with some even offering bundles of kangkung for the deed.
Some, like media personality Asha Gill, put a charitable twist to the scheme, although most seem largely motivated by their annoyance over what they claimed was an illogical statement by Ahmad Zahid.
Responding to a Malaysiakini tweet on Ahmad Zahid’s statement, Gill said: “The idiot! I offer 10 cents (sic) for him to be slapped.
“Get one big basket, line up the slap-fest and each donate 10 sen. Then donate all the moolah to stateless kids and send him a roast chicken!” she added, referring to the chickens slaughtered in the protest against Kok on Thursday.
Anti-crime activist R Sanjeevan, meanwhile, upped the ante when responding to an offer to print posters advertising RM500 cash rewards to anyone who slaps the minister.
“I’ll offer RM1000!” he tweeted.
Netizens poke fun at Zahid after his dismissal of slap threat by protesters
Netizens are having a field day poking fun at Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s dismissal of an assault threat on DAP MP Teresa Kok.
Disappointed and angered by Zahid’s statement, in which he said there was no need to investigate the reward offer by a group to anyone who slaps Kok, netizens took to micro-blogging site Twitter to mock him.
“Zahid Hamidi says reward for slapping Teresa Kok isn’t a threat… After this, a lot of people are going to get slaps!!!” said Twitter user @nurislah.
“Why do we need to investigate that? Slapping is not a threat. If they say murder, then it is a threat,” he said, adding action would only be taken if the act were carried out.
Responding to this, some cheeky Twitter users such as @slaveration said, “Zahid Hamidi come over here and let me slap you”.
“Is it possible if I want to slap Zahid Hamidi’s face for free? Is it a threat against him? Don’t arrest me for intimidation,” tweeted @aimanhkim.
Meanwhile, The Malaysian Insider has been inundated with comments from readers hitting out at Zahid.
“So, anyone can also offer $5,000 to slap Zahid and expect no police action?” posted a reader using the nickname “stewoolf”.
Some were quick to recall the assault case involving Zahid, in which he was sued by businessman Amir Bazli Abdullah for allegedly punching him in the face.
“Homeland gangsta: ‘I’ve punched someone blue and black and gotten way with it… So what’s a little slap?’” commented “englim” on The Malaysian Insider, referring to the court case, which was dismissed last month after Amir’s lawyer Karpal Singh said his client had gone missing.

RTM suspends sitcom featuring Kok video actor
Public broadcaster Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) has suspended the airing of popular Chinese sitcom ‘88 Kopitiam’, featuring an actor who was part of the Teresa Kok Chinese New Year parody video.
In a statement today, its director-general of broadcasting Norhyati Ismail said that the sitcom has been suspended pending investigations.
“RTM is investigating if any of our programmes is linked to actors who had tainted the name or image of the country.
“RTM will not hesitate to take stern action against those involved in productions of that nature,” she said.
Expressing regret, Kok condemned the act which “victimises professional actors”.
“They were all hired actors and not party members. Why should professional actors be penalised? I am responsible for the political satire video,” she said when contacted.
She, however, cannot confirm if any of the three actors are part of the ‘88 Kopitiam’ cast.

PETALING JAYA: Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) has suspended the broadcast of 88 Kopitiam, a Chinese-dialect programme, following allegations that one of its actors appeared in Seputeh MP Teresa Kok’s Chinese New Year video.
In a statement released on Saturday, its director-general Datuk Norhyati Ismail said RTM would investigate any programme which actors were involved in activities that could tarnish the country’s image.
“RTM will not hesitate to take stern action against individuals involved in such activities,” she said.
An actor involved in the 88 Kopitiam sitcom was alleged to have acted in Kok’s video titled Onederful Malaysia CNY 2014 Video Clip, which drew flak from many Barisan politicians and Malay NGOs.

The Council of Islamic NGOs had initially offered a reward of RM500 to anyone who dared to slap Kok and provided photographic evidence of their act. That sum was revised after the 50-odd protesters did a collection among themselves and came up with RM1,200.
Group leader Zulkfli Sharif said the reward is open to all Malaysians.
“This offer is open to anyone who can slap Teresa Kok. But they must provide a picture to claim the RM1,200,” he told The Malaysian Insider.

Claiming that she is being harassed, the DAP’s Seputeh MP Teresa Kok lodged a police report this morning at the Kuala Lumpur district headquarters.
Her aide, who answered her mobile phone today, said she did not name any party as being behind the ‘harassment’, linked to a satirical video that she had posted online.
He said Kok had been receiving calls and text-messages since Feb 3, with many callers using “vulgar and threatening words”.
“We will leave it to the police to investigate,” he said.

A thorough investigation of the clip, uploaded on Youtube on January 27 in conjunction with the Chinese New Year, was carried out by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission in collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police, he said.
“This is the purview of the Commission, if the investigation finds that there is an issue involving the Sedition Act, legal action will be taken once the investigation is completed,” he told reporters yesterday.
He says that the public is angry with the video. Which ‘public’? The public’ I know is not angry; indeed, they are happy!

Ahmad Shabery: Public angry with Teresa Kok’s video clip
PUTRAJAYA: Seputeh MP Teresa Kok has roused anger among the public with her kiasu attitude and putting down the country’s image by alleging that everything that was done by the government was wrong.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek (pic) said Teresa’s acting in a satirical video clip titled Onederful Malaysia, which had gone viral on YouTube, created an uproar.
“Teresa has bad taste, so is this a good example from a DAP leader? When we insult the country and point out other’s weaknesses, it will only encourage others to do the same,” he told a news conference after a visit to Measat Satelite Systems Sdn Bhd in Cyberjaya, near here on Tuesday.

Lawyers defend Teresa’s satire video
Legal experts say there is no element of incitement in the video as it is merely a political satire.
PETALING JAYA: Action cannot be taken against Seputeh MP Teresa Kok on her Chinese New Year (CNY) video as it was not seditious.
Bar Council president Christopher Leong said today that there was nothing seditious about the video as far as the law and the Sedition Act was concerned.
And this, he said, was regardless whether some may find the video entertaining or otherwise.
“There does not appear to be any element of incitement in the video. The fact that some people are taking offence to it and may excite or incite themselves, does not mean that the video and its contents are unlawful,” he said.
Padang Serai MP and Lawyers for Liberty (LFL) founder N Surendran was also of the opinion that Kok did not break any laws with her video.
“The video is just a political satire on Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s wife (Rosmah Mansor). And this is entirely acceptable in any proper democracy,” he said.
The PKR vice president added that Kok video was also consistent with Article 10 of the Federal Constitution which talks about freedom of speech and expression, and as such, had the right to criticise the government through satire.
“As far as the law is concerned, the video is not seditious. Therefore, there is no law that allows action be taken against her (Kok).
WHILE TERESA KOK HAD NO INTENTION OF DOING WHAT SHE IS ACCUSED OF, IT WON’T MATTER. Her accusers have got political muscle, and obviously hope to stir up trouble for her.

MP denies shaming PM, wife in CNY satire
Seputeh MP Teresa Kok has denied accusations her satirical Chinese New Year video greeting had shamed Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor, as both were never mentioned in the clip.
Addressing allegations levelled at her, she also denied the ‘Onederful Malaysia CNY 2014’ video had belittled the efforts of the country’s security forces in last year’s Lahad Datu confrontation, as that incident too was never mentioned.
“No names of national leaders, including Najib, were mentioned in the video clip. How could Umno leaders and their henchmen create something that does not exist?” she questioned in a statement today.

Shafie: Video clip an insult to Sabah and Malaysian security forces
KOTA KINABALU: A 12-minute “humorous” Chinese New Year video on You Tube by Seputeh MP Teresa Kok way has fallen flat on a senior Sabah minister who said that the clip was an insult to the state and Malaysian security forces.
Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said on Sunday that stern action should be taken against the DAP for ridiculing Sabah and Malaysian security forces in the video.
In the clip, Kok took on the role as a “Feng Shui” talk-show host with three guests with one of them making a snide remark connected to last year’s Sulu gunmen intrusion in the east coast Lahad Datu and Semporna districts that resulted in 10 security personnel losing their lives.
“Issues of national security should not be lampooned. Our fellow Malaysians sacrificed their lives in defending the country,” said Shafie, who is the Umno vice-president, after attending the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) open house here.

Teresa is attacked for the racial elements in her video
In a press conference yesterday, Federal Territories Umno Youth reportedly called on Kok to apologies for the 11 minute and 39 second-video because it allegedly contained “racial elements”.
“We condemn the video which is racial in manner. This video can affect national harmony,” its chief Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii was reported as saying by Sinar Harian.
“(Kok) should not get upset if the people act rudely towards her now as she provoked such behaviour.”
A coalition of Malay NGOs in Putrajaya have also called for a press conference at 2pm today, to condemn Kok for “inciting the Chinese to make fun of Malays without any respect”.

Teresa Kok’s CNY video stirs controversy
What was meant to be a humorous Chinese New Year video greeting by Seputeh MP Teresa Kok has landed the MP in yet another race controversy.
This time, the DAP vice-chairperson, who was previously wrongly accused of criticising the azan (Muslim call of prayer), is accused of “insolence” and “inciting racial hatred”.
In the video uploaded on her website last Monday, Kok plays a talk show host who is interviewing a panel of experts on what to expect in the Year of the Horse.
The experts are actors playing the following characters — Brother Wai, an emotional man who is fast reduced to tears, Mrs Jit, a big-haired rotund woman who loves jewellery and handbags, and Miss Yan Yan, an expert in tourism and feng shui.
Among others, references were made to diamond rings, branded handbags and real estate in New York as well as several other news items pertaining to tourism and vernacular education.
Although not directly, viewers of Kok’s ‘Onederful Malaysia CNY 2014′ video may associate this to Rosmah’s (left) penchant for luxury goods and her son, Riza Shahriz Abdul Aziz’s 2012 purchase of RM100 million apartment in New York.
Ostensibly, the rotund woman also advised viewers to place a “lo-si-ma” (a horse made of of nails and screws) to attract good luck this Year of the Horse.
