“Let May 13 be a new day for a new Malaysian spirit, rejecting all manner of racism,” he said during Pakatan Rakyat’s rally at Medan Istana, near the State Legislative Assembly building here last night.

The rally was held in front of the Perak PKR headquarters to protest the 13th general election results.

Among the speakers were state PKR chief DrMuhamadNur Manutty, PKR Srikandi chief Siti Aishah Shaik Ismail, Badrul Hashim Shaharin (also known as Chegu Bard), Batu MP Tian Chua and PKR’s Elizabeth Wong.

The crowd, which began to trickle in the early evening, turned up mostly dressed in black.

A long queue created a traffic snarl and traffic policemen had to direct traffic along the congested Jalan Raja Musa Aziz, Jalan Lim Bo Seng and Jalan Istana.

It was reported that the rally had not received the go-ahead from police.

Perak police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan said the organiser met with the district police chief on Friday to obtain permission but the application was rejected for not adhering to several conditions under the Peaceful Assembly Act.

HATTRICK FOR ANWAR: Even ‘Rosmah’ attends GE13 FRAUD rally in Ipoh

Written by  Malaysia Chronicle

It looks like Anwar Ibrahim is on his way to scoring a hattrick. With two ‘sell-out’ rallies in Kelana Jaya, Selangor and Batu Kawan, Penang already tucked under his belt, the third gathering in Ipoh, Perak to protest “stolen” electoral victory has pulled in another hundred thousand Malaysians including ‘Rosmah’ – the controversial wife of Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Of course, it is only an impersonator and not the self-styled First Lady of Malaysia herself but certainly Rosmah or rather her image is still a crowd-puller although not all who crowded around her impersonator had complimentary comments to make.

But by 10pm, more than 100,000 people had filled the lanes of the Medan Istana commercial center in Ipoh town. A mixed crowd, where again, young Malaysians outnumbered the middle-aged and senior citizens, and despite having to sit on the roads, their enthusiasm was inspiring to the Pakatan Rakyat leaders who were visibly touched by the response.

Of the 3 rallies held so far, the Ipoh event had been expected to be the quietest due to a hostile state government. As it turned, perhaps due to the tighter surroundings, the feeling of rapport and participation may have been the greatest and the most lively.

“No one can stop the wave. This is natural feeling, we didn’t pay them or offer any food. They just want to share with us the anger at how Najib and Umno-BN stole GE13 from us,” PKR assemblyman for Teja Chang Lih Kan.
……….

And on the eve of May 13, a date that has many painful memories for Malaysian Chinese, Anwar did not disappoint. He lambasted Prime Minister Najib Razak and Umno-BN for continuously raising the spectre of the May 13 racial riots to scare the Chinese community in to docility and to stir up fresh hatred amongst the Malays for the Chinese.

“Why should we be bound by the mentality of 1960s era? Today’s Malaysia is about one united people. Kami anak Malaysia (we are the children of Malaysia),” Anwar told the hushed crowd which broke into thunderous applause on hearing his words.

The 64-year-old had arrived on a motorbike and was immediately mobbed by the crowd. Called a political chameleon by his nemesis and former boss, Mahathir Mohamad, Anwar certainly called it right this round in refusing to concede defeat in the May 5 general election.

From the ashes of what he has alleged was a most unjust loss, he has turned the crisis to his advantage. If before he was already among the top 3 most popular leaders in the country, he is now in a class all of his own.

And it is not all about blind hero-worship. For many Malaysians, Anwar represents their hope to a just Malaysia where law and order can persist without being twisted at the whim and fancy of the ruling Umno elite.

PKR to ‘blacken’ more states, in anti-polls fraud rallies
5:07PM May 10, 2013

After successfully ‘blacking out’ the Kelana Jaya Stadium with black-clad supporters protesting the alleged fraud in last week’s polls, PKR plans to do so in four more states, hoping to cash-in on widespread public support for their election petitions.

“PKR believes that the rakyat’s voice must be heard and championed. Accepting the results of the polls tainted with fraud and foreign voters is a betrayal of the people’s trust,” said party strategy director Rafizi Ramli (below) in a statement.

NONEHe praised and thanked the police for understanding the rakyat’s aspiration to assemble peacefully and said that the rakyat’s sentiment is clear that electoral fraud must be combated.

“The Black 505 wave will be carried across the entire nation. The same rally will be held in Penang and Perak this weekend and brought to Pahang and Johor mid next week,” he said. .

The rally in Penang is scheduled for Saturday May 11 at the MPSP Stadium in Bukit Mertajam and the one in Perak on Sunday May 12 at Ipoh’s Medan Istana.

Pahang’s rally will fall on Tuesday next week, followed by Johor the following Wednesday. However, the venue for both states is yet to be announced.
