The greatest tragedy of the May 13 riots is that Umno ministers have not learned any lessons from history. The legacy of Mahathir means that his loathsome influence still continues after he resigned as prime minister.

Chinese see Psy, Malays see May 13 film

Mariam Mokhtar | February 22, 2013

Najib is playing a dangerous game in using ‘Tanda Putera’ to try to swing support for Umno. The similarities between 1969 and 2013 are uncanny.

COMMENT

As we approach the 13th general election (GE13), Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s interpretation of “1Malaysia” gets more bizarre.

To herald in the Year of the Snake, Najib made the surprise announcement that the Chinese would be treated to a special performance by the Korean entertainer Psy. Earlier this week, after much delay and heavy censorship, the Indians were finally allowed to view the film, “Vishwaroopam”.

The Malay masses, always on the wrong end of the stick when it comes to Umno’s largesse, were forced to view the Umno propaganda film “Tanda Putera”.

Psy’s performance allegedly cost RM3 million for a mere 12 minutes. The ban on Vishwaroopam caused promoters to suffer significant financial losses. Much of the box-office takings were diverted to pirated DVDs which were openly sold throughout Malaysia.

“Tanda Putera” cost RM4.8 million and is funded by the National Film Development Corporation (Finas) and the Multimedia Development Corporation (Mdec) – in other words, the taxpayer.

REGIONAL HEADLINES: Malaysia’s BN gets big ‘NO’ from crowd

MALAYSIA – It was something that the Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak didn’t want to hear.

At the Barisan Nasional (BN) open house in George Town, Penang, on Monday, he tried to squeeze in a political message even as the overflowing crowd was waiting for K-pop sensation Psy to take centre stage.

“Are you ready for Psy?” Mr Najib asked thrice as he tried to work the crowd.

The audience gave a resounding “yes” every time he asked the question.

Encouraged by their response, he went on to the tricky one.

“Are you ready for BN?”

This time, most of the crowd shouted a resounding “no”.

The prime minister asked again and again, but the reply was the same, liberal news portal malaysiakini.com reported.

Meanwhile, some netizens alleged that tv3, Malaysia’s No. 1 terrestrial TV Station, telecast the clip in which a section of the crowd is heard shouting “yes” to Mr Najib’s question about being ready for BN.

But online comments on the topic were apparently taken down after some time.

Are you ready for BN? Was it a Yes or No?

Athi Shankar | February 14, 2013

A Gerakan leader says the crowd at the BN open house roared ‘yes’ and not ‘no’ in response to the prime minister’s question.

GEORGE TOWN: Two video clips have emerged on cyber space this week showing different versions of the crowd’s response to Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s question: “Are you ready for BN?” at the state Barisan Nasional Chinese New Year open house on Sunday.

In one clip, which was the first to go viral since late Sunday, the crowd shouted “No” thrice when repeatedly posed the question. In the other video, which emerged on Monday, the crowd was heard responding with a big “Yes”.

The interesting question now is which video is genuine?

As expected, BN critics have used the first video clip to hit out at Najib, claiming that the people have overwhelmingly rejected BN.

Critics had described the crowd’s resounding “No” as a public vote of no confidence for the ruling coalition.

Psy a PR blunder for Najib, BN

February 14, 2013
By M Krishnamoorthy

The prime minister should realise that he cannot horse around with the wishes and aspirations of Malaysians anymore.
……..

BN must recognise that throwing money at all its events at the expense of the taxpayers is a big “No!” BN must not horse around with sentiments, emotions and feelings of Malaysians.

Boos and jeers

It was clear that the multi-million-ringgit show in Penang on Monday was a blunder. It was not the first event where the crowd had not been receptive to BN’s offers and overtures.

Psy’s performance was delayed for almost an hour. The event organisers were restless trying to ride on the wave of Psy’s worldwide popular song.

It was like waiting for the food at a dinner and speakers keep on dragging the time with their long-winded speeches.
………….

When Najib shouted “Satu!”, many of the local Umno Youth members shouted, “Malaysia.” He repeated it thrice, and it was followed by silence.

Rosmah got boos and jeers when she came on stage to sing Chinese new year songs. There were also attempts to have Psy and BN leaders on stage together.

But Psy refused to appear on stage with BN leaders. After a few minutes, all the BN leaders were asked to leave the stage to make way for his performance of his mega hit.

Soon after the show by Psy, people started leaving the venue. There was no way to call the crowd back. If anyone did, it would have been another public relations disaster.

One moral lesson from this episode is: “Don’t underestimate Malaysians, as you cannot horse around with people’s psyche, wishes and aspirations.”

The writer is a freelance journalist and local coordinator for CNN, BBC and several other foreign television networks.

Psy a PR blunder for Najib, BN

——————————————————————–

Penang Malay Congress (PMC) president Rahmad Isahak, “This is an early warning by voters to BN that they cannot be bought by money or entertainment. It is also hurtful that Najib repeated BN’s promise of affordable housing and monorail that would only be implemented if they won Penang.

“These are promises that should have been granted when BN was the state government. We feel that to pull off this open house was a desperate attempt to woo voters which inadvertently turned out to be their farewell party.”

Miscalculation by BN to bring Psy – Rahmad Isahak

BARISAN NASIONAL
(BN)’s stint to woo Penang voters during its state-level Chinese New Year open house is now termed as a `farewell party’ for the national alliance here following its alleged failed attempt to win over Penangites.

Penang Malay Congress (PMC) president Rahmad Isahak said despite featuring South Korean K-pop sensation Psy as the star act at Han Chiang College grounds on Feb 11, BN failed to attract less than half the expected figure of 80,000 people to its event.

“It was a miscalculation by BN to bring Psy to Penang. They dug their own grave when the crowd itself said they were only there to watch Psy perform. This too was witnessed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak himself,” said Rahmad.

Psy dines at Korean BBQ outlet before taking off

From page 4 GEORGE TOWN: After a whirlwind 18-hour visit to the country, South Korean superstar Psy left Penang in a private jet.

Despite the brief visit, Psy managed to enjoy a meal at the Daorae Korean BBQ Restaurant in Jalan Tanjung Tokong.

A source said that soon after his performance at the state Barisan Nasional Chinese New Year open house, he went to rest at his luxury suite in Evergreen Laurel Hotel at 1pm.

At about 4.40pm, he made his way to the restaurant, about 10 minutes from the hotel.

Word got out about his presence there and soon a group of fans, many of them Korean nationals, waited eagerly outside the place.

According to the fans, Psy waved at them but he was immediately escorted into the restaurant.

No to BN and Najib, Yes to PSY!

Harakahdaily, 12 February 2013

Feb 12: It was classic news blackout Malaysia-style, when the BN-controlled print and electronic media omitted an incident at the much-publicised Chinese New Year concert featuring South Korean singing sensation Psy.

MCA mouthpiece The Star, for example, which had been building up the momentum to Psy’s arrival, front-paged the report today, carefully skipping any mention of the incident which has gone viral on the Internet.

Despite the video evidence, pro-UMNO bloggers wasted no time coming to Najib’s defence, and claimed that the shouts of “No!” were by a minority who stood at the back rows.

This led to another clip showing the incident from a different angle, much closer to the stage where Najib stood. This time, it was clear that the crowd’s response to his question was indeed an emphatic ‘no’.

South Korean megastar Psy delivered an energetic performance of hisGangnam Style monster hit that got his audience, young and old alike, cheering and whooping during the Penang Barisan Nasional Chinese New Year open house celebration in George Town.

GEORGE TOWN: He has performed countless times all over the world, each time, before an adoring audience. It was no different in Penang.

Young fans: Children doing the ‘Gangnam Style’ dance during the Penang Barisan Nasional Chinese New Year open house at Han Chiang High School.

If he was good for Penang, then so was Penang good for him.

About the same time the Grammys were being held in Los Angeles which had snubbed him for not nominating him for any award, Psy was basking in the warm embrace, not to mention the sweltering heat, of his ecstatic Malaysian fans here.

Clad in a white shirt, short-sleeve vest, black pants and his trademark sunglasses, Psy thrilled the massive crowd, which packed the school field, with his mega hit – twice.

Tearing across the stage with his energetic signature moves, he and his 12 dancers worked the crowd to a frenzy before performing an encore.

The dancers were dressed in their signature white outfits.

It was noted that the women dancers, who are normally in ultra-mini dresses, wore white tops and leggings instead.

Now that the show is over, the battle continues…

UPAH GANGNAM STYLE: Highlights of the day!

Like and share this before Utusan or NST spread their lies!

1. The delayed PSY Performance
RIDING on the wave of attention just before PSY shows up, Teng Chang Yeow, Najib and Rosmah consecutively put up their monkey shows to ‘entertain’ the audience. PSY’s performance was delayed from 1130 to 1215.

2. Najib’s son’s speech.
This speech had only one purpose: To use Najib’s son’s Chinese-speaking skills to engage the audience. However, this failed miserably when all the audience could hear was: 古人常说,”一日之计在于晨,一年之计在于春”and “一分耕耘,一分收获”, which by the way, had nothing to do with what he had to say.

3. Najib’s attempts to engage the audience.
When Najib shouted “Satu!”, many of the local UMNO youth shouted, “Malaysia!” But when Najib shouted “一个!” Nobody answered him. He repeated it thrice. And the silence repeated itself thrice.

4. Rosmah’s performance
The audience, now impatient to see PSY, BOOed when Rosmah surfaced on stage to sing CNY songs. But singing was too laborious a task for our plump, pampered first lady, who could only lip-sync to the background music.

5. The FAILED impromptu attempt to trick PSY to 捞生
Teng Chang Yeow, Najib, Rosmah, Abdullah Badawi were ready with their chopsticks. But PSY, who had arrived since 6am, refused to appear on stage to 捞生with the BN leaders to preserve his neutrality. After a few minutes, all the BN leaders were ousted off the stage to make way for the Glorious Gangnam.

6. “Are you ready for BN?” “NO!”

“Are you ready for PSY?” asked the Emcee.

“Yes!” cheered the people.

“Are you ready for BN?” asked the Emcee, slipping in a trick question.

“NO!” thundered the people who were not fooled.

* CORRECTION: The ‘EMCEE’ is Najib himself, we have verified this fact from footage and personal accounts of attendees. Which makes it….even funnier!

7. Leaving before Najib
No group photos, no handshakes. As soon as PSY shouted, “Thank you very much!”, and while Najib was still trembling in his seat, people left theirs, leaving behind piles of uneaten food. The Emcee was as quiet as a clam, knowing that it would be impossible to call the crowd back.

CONCLUSION:
Psy came for the money. The people came for the free food and performances. Who cares about BN and its bid for power?

a

*What do I think? The only winners were those who attended the show and got a ‘live’ performance from PSY.

As for how they will vote, who knows? To think that a show, even one by the one and only PSY, could swing the votes one way or the other is naive.

PSY SLAP IN THE FACE: Korean superstar refused to toss ‘yee-sang’ with Najib, BN

Written by  Wong Choon Mei, Alaa Soleiman, Malaysia Chronicle

PENANG – UPDATE3 Korean superstar Psy handed Malaysia’s ruling party a slap in the face when he declined to come onstage to toss the traditional ‘yee-sang’ with Prime Minister Najib Razak and other top members of his BN coalition at a gig to celebrate the Chinese New year.
…………..

For four minutes, the tens of thousands of Penangites who came to watch him at the Han Chiang school field simply went crazy. They demanded an encore and he gave them what they wanted. More Gangnam!

No politics for Psy!

But sadly for the BN, Psy wisely swerved away from being used to promote Najib’s 1Malaysia brand of politics. The Malaysian leader had moments earlier announced to the crowd that Psy had a surprise for them - Oppa BN style.

It was not to be. Najib, wife Rosmah Mansor, son Norashman, former premier Abdullah Badawi, Gerakan chiefs Koh Tsu Koon, Teng Chang Yeow and Tourism minister Ng Yen Yen were among those left red-faced on stage after Psy’s aide told the organizers the star would not be joining them for the ‘yee-sang’ tossing ceremony.

Crest-fallen, the BN team dissembled, returning to their VIP tent. ..

If Prime Minister Najib Razak had heard the crowd at the back on the field, he would have been rather disappointed.

In the midst of his speech at the Penang state BN Chinese New Year (CNY) open house held at the Han Chiang College field today, he said he did not want the day to be serious as everyone was expecting a great show by top Korean pop star Psy.

“Are you ready for Psy?” Najib asked about four times and the crowd responded loudly “Yes!”.

He then asked “Are you ready for BN?” but the crowd at the back shouted “No” and laughed.

They also laughed when Najib mispronounced Han Chiang as “Han Niang”, when he announced that the college will be upgraded to University College status.

The crowd also laughed when the emcee invited Najib’s wife Rosmah Mansor to sing a Chinese New Year song.

Thousands come for Psy, not so much for PM

About 30,000 braved the sweltering heat to see top South Korean pop star Psy gallop on stage to perform his world famous ‘Oppa Gangnam style’ at the BN’s open house in Penang today.

They were with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak at Penang state BN Chinese New Year (CNY) open house held at the Han Chiang College field.

NONEThe numbers were short of the expected 80,000, although a police officer on his rounds said he estimated the crowd as about 50,000.

As Najib was entering the venue, the emcee shouted “Are you ready for Psy! Are you ready for Oppa Gangnam style!” before welcoming the PM and his entourage of BN leaders.

Despite the emcee asking the people to give PM a rousing welcome, the crowd was mostly subdued, many fanning themselves under the burning February heat.

Puteri Umno and BN supporters were seen waving ‘I love PM!’ banners but they were in the minority.

Nibong Tebal MIC chief R Rajagopal said he had arranged 10 buses to the event.

When asked why he was not shouting “I love PM!”, the 62-year-old retiree replied “It’s okay, I’ve done a lot of that already”.

As soon as he was done, the crowd was seen leaving the field in droves.

Psy finally hit the stage at 12.11pm, and the crowd happily screamed.

“Malaysia, thanks for inviting me and Happy New Year,” he wished the audience at the Penang state BN Chinese New Year open house held at the Han Chiang College field today.

“Are you ready? Weather is really hot. You waited a long time, I feel bad but your voices are not loud enough,” he teased.

“Malaysia, are you ready?” He asked again.

When the crowd screamed, he said “Give the music!” and started to gallop on stage, breaking into his world famous hit, ‘Oppa Gangnam Style’.

He also asked the crowd to dance along and many were seen gyrating to the raunchy music.

Psy said he flew from Brazil and took 20 hours to arrive. He said he was not the kind merely to play just for four minutes.

NONESome of you seem a little bit tired,” he teased the crowd who responded shouting “No!”

“For Malaysia and for a Happy New Year and we will do the song another time,” he said.

Psy jested that people were just taking photos and were not jumping.

“Stop snapping and dance,” he pleaded.

Mega Ultimate, the private event company purportedly paying for top Korean pop star Psy’s performance in the Penang BN’s Chinese New Year open house continues to keep mum about the details of its sponsorship.

Its systems engineer Anthony Chow Chee Ming (right) agreed only to be interviewed on “technical matters” involving the show scheduled for Feb 11, Monday, at the Han Chiang College.

Journalists pressed him for details on the sponsorship and expenditure but Chow merely said “No comment, I will only talk about technical matters”.

Psy’s Gangnam parody in Penang: Oops, joke is on BN elites!

Written by  Anil Netto

…………

For many of us, Gangnam is just a fun and catchy song-and-dance, which makes little sense. But scratch below the surface and you will find a biting social critique. Few realise that Gangnam is actually a parody of the affluent, materialistic life-style which the BN elites are known for.
………….

The rich and gaudy lifestyle of the Umno-putras

If we were to translate “Gangnam-style” into “Bangsar-style” (nothing personal against you Bangsar residents out there!), we might get a better understanding of what Psy is singing and prancing around about. The local translation for “Oppa Gangnam-style” would be something like “He (is living) the Bangsar life-style” i.e. materialistic, consumerist, trendy (you know, the life-style of the BN and other elites) but in hindsight somewhat empty and often just a mirage. (For examples of this mirage in the Gangnam music video clip, please do read this blog on Korea that details the real meaning and illusion behind Psy’s rendition of Gangnam.)

The closest Malaysian equivalent I can think of is Bangsar. Like Gangnam, Bangsar sprouted with earnest from the 1980s and is today the place where people hang out to see and be seen. It is the epitome of the kind of materialistic life-style which many Malaysian yuppies and others aspire to.

“An open air ‘rock zone’ will be available in front of the stage for Psy’s fans to go Gangnam Style with him,” he said during a visit to the site of the celebration in Han Chiang High School yesterday.

Oh, however said the organisers did not know how and when Psy would be arriving in Penang for the event.

Can Psy horse power boost BN?

Jeswan Kaur | February 8, 2013

Is getting Psy a pathetic reflection of how desperate BN has become in gearing up for the coming 13th general election?

COMMENT

BN has invited the rapper to grace its Chinese New Year open house in Penang on Feb 11, a move which comes at a cost of RM1 million to RM3 million.

Psy will be doing his “horse riding dance” or tarian kuda in the presence of Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and some 60,000 guests expected at the CNY open house.
………….

Does BN or rather Najib seriously think getting the 35-year-old singer, songwriter, rapper and dancer Psy to do his “Gangnam Style” dance moves will bring in the crowd to its CNY open house?

If yes, then it is a pathetic reflection of how desperate BN has become in gearing up for the coming 13th general election.
………….

As always, BN’s member parties, the MIC and MCA, have little to say over the Psy act coming to town; maybe the fact that 60,000 guests are due at the BN-organised CNY open house has silenced them into speaking against such costly move.

Meanwhile, the move by Psy’s Malaysian fans pleading with the rapper to reject the invitation seems to have fallen on deaf ears.

The Malaysians fans flooded Psy’s Facebook webpage with messages pleading that he not become BN’s political tool.
…………..

Looks like there is no stopping BN and Psy, not when it suits the former.

Najib: Pakatan envies BN for getting Psy first

Pakatan Rakyat, especially DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, is jealous of BN for scoring with Korean “Gangnam Style” star Psy, claimed Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

NONE“Actually, he wants to invite Psy to a function under the Pakatan Rakyat name, but when Psy chose to attend our event, that derailed his plans.

“That is the real story,” the premier told reporters at a press conference after chairing the Umno supreme council meeting in Kuala Lumpur today.

“He may have his reasons, but I am baffled with his reaction. Every year we do the same (event),” continued the PM, decrying Pakatan’s alleged politicising of the issue, which included the tearing down of Chinese New Years posters bearing a picture of him wearing a ‘fashionable’ Chinese tunic.

Yen Yen: I’d love to dance the Gangnam with Psy

Flamboyant Tourism Minister Dr Ng Yen Yen said today she would love to dance in the Gangnam style with South Korean pop sensation Psy at the BN Chinese New Year open house to be held in Penang.

“I would love to dance (with Psy) if I had the chance,” Ng said.

NONEAsked whether she could dance in the Gangnam style, Ng (left in photo), clad in a red kebaya, stood up and performed part of the signature dance, catching many off guard and those at the press conference bursting  into laughter.

Ng brushed off allegations that BN was using Psy to win popularity and to recapture Penang, saying that the BN did not consider Psy’s appearance as a “bid to win votes”.

“Malaysians love to speculate, Malaysians love to jump to conclusions,” she complained, referring to widespread speculation that the federal government and BN were footing Psy’s bill and wished to win votes through the singer.

She said all Malaysians loved to be happy and bringing Psy here would make the people happy.

“Do you think Psy is interested in who wins? I don’t think Psy is interested,” she said.

“(I think) Psy doesn’t want to make himself a (political) tool.”

GEORGE TOWN- South Korean megastar PSY has confirmed his appearance at the Penang Barisan Nasional Chinese New Year open house on Monday.

“The cronies will foot the bill, but what benefits the cronies will gain is interesting. Since it is going to be sponsored by businessmen, (BN should) come clean on who they are,” he was quoted as saying.

Psy asking for RM1.5 million, claims MP
1:15PM Feb 7, 2013

According to an opposition MP close to the South Korean business industry, South Korean pop sensation Psy has offered a ‘fixed price’ of US$500,000 (or RM1.5 million) to perform his hit song ‘Oppa Gangnam Style’ at Penang BN’s Chinese New Year open house.

Although Psy had previously announced that he would not perform the song again, it is one of BN’s requirements for the RM1.5 million deal, claimed Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi from DAP.

Ooi told Sin Chew Daily that his sources revealed to him that under the deal, Psy would perform three songs at the most but ‘Oppa Gangnam Style’ is definitely on the list.

The Chinese daily reported that Ooi is close to South Korean telecommunication companies, plastic surgery hospitals and other business industries.

The Korean company responsible for Psy’s performance is Seoul-based YG Entertainment founded by Yang Hyun-suk, said Ooi.

He confirmed the earlier statements by BN leaders that the performance is sponsored by the private sector, but said the claim by Penang BN Youth chief Oh Tong Keong that Psy was invited to join Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak as his guest was laughable.

Psy needs to tutup ‘her’ aurat, says Nik Aziz
2:59PM Feb 6, 2013

Despite the global sensation created by South Korean artist Psy, PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik has been oblivious about it and even mistook Psy for a woman.

According to a Sin Chew Daily report, yesterday he urged Psy to tutup aurat (protect modesty) when told by media that BN has invited a South Korean celebrity to perform at its Chinese New Year open house on Feb 11.

When told that Psy is a man, Nik Aziz was concerned whether the content of the songs is positive for the youngsters.

The 82-year-old politician also asked reporters, “In what language does he sing?” and after being told that it is Korean, he was perplexed on why people listen to songs in a language that they do not understand.

The Kelantan menteri besar commented that it is extravagant to hire foreign performers as the resources can be used to develop local artists.

“Don’t we have many local singers? Why don’t we hire local youths? Isn’t is better to spend the money on our youths?” he asked.

Wanita MCA Penang Chairman: LIM GUAN ENG IS ENVIOUS!

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng is jealous that Korean pop star Park Jae-Sang, better known as Psy, has been invited and sponsored by a private company to be a special guest to meet with the Prime Minister who will be in Penang to attend the state Barinsa Nasional’s Chinese New Year Open House and to perform his hit song while he is there.

By calling on people to wear red, green and yellow coloured clothes to attend the Penang BN’s Chinese New Year Open House, Guan Eng has proven himself to be psychologically unbalanced and practising double standards.

Most of the public feel that Guan Eng’s remarks are ridiculous, as he himself had promoted the event. In claiming that a performance by Psy will help to boost Penang’s economy proves that he is a man of many masks.

Not even a Penangite!

Besides not being a local of Penang, Guan Eng has also contributed nothing to Penang’s success in the past five years. Instead, he has arrogantly used Penang as his own personal asset or for his party’s own good.

Guan Eng aims to spoil BN’s CNY bash, says DPM

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has accused the Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng of seeking to disrupt Penang BN’s Chinese New Year open house event by urging participants to wear red, yellow and green.

Muhyiddin said the event, slated for Feb 11 and to feature South Korean pop superstar Psy, was supposed to be a happy celebration to promote unity.

“What if we play politics during Hari Raya?” he queried.

“But it seems like Lim Guan Eng wants to play politics only,” said Muhyiddin at a press conference in Penang today. “He should respect our programme, and not create trouble.”

“This is an occasion to respect the rights of the rakyat. He has his own programmes. Why does he do it?” Muhyiddin asked.

“I am sure the BN won’t be disturbing their events or asking people to wear black or blue. This looks like a stupid thing to do. He thinks he is smart, but he’s actually not.”

  • Lewis Tang please dont attend pm malaysia party, political tools use by pm malaysia at this coming election period.
    • 风如梦 Dear our idol, PSY, we love your song and we love how Gangnam Style could rock the party, however, please do not come to Malaysia. We hope that you will not attend the celebration party held by the Barisan Nasional in Penang, Malaysia in the coming Chinese New Year. (FYI, Barisan Nasional is the current ruling party of Malaysia government.)
If you come to Malaysia, you will become the political tool and your performance will be politicized by Barisan Nasional. It is a political party which is seriously corrupted and always abuses the power to persecute the Malaysian. Barisan Nasional can spend millions of the people’s money to invite you to perform without second thought, but we, the citizens are the ones who will have to pay for it. The children in Sabah and Sarawak will struggle; walking miles of road to school, and feed on the leftovers, they could not afford to buy fresh vegetables every day. All the other citizens will never have enough money to live a better life; they’re forced to pay the tax which is spent arbitrarily. We are now forced to live in an utmost corrupted country, Malaysia.
Our general election is around the corner. Every citizen is waiting for the chance to change the government, to fight against the power of the evils. Now, by using any dirty ways, the Barisan Nasional is trying to brain wash the young generation and to create an illusion which is the government had managed the country well but the truth is, Malaysia’s national debt is now FIVE HUNDRED BILLION!! Mr. PSY, you can definitely dance with anybody, including Mr. Ban Gimun ( the Secretary-General of the United Nations ) but never Mr. Najib Razak. As for the reason, he is the prime minister of Malaysia, the 4th most corrupted country in the world. We, the Malaysians hope to have a clean and fair election as what we demand in the “Bersih” demonstration. We don’t hope that the young generation to vote for a wrong government because of the dirty campaign tactics used by Barisan Nasional.
We have no other choice but to stop you and hope that you could read this letter. We sincerely beg for the sake of the people’s welfare, please, listen to our voice. It matters about our fate in the future. We hope you would take serious consideration regarding to this matter. Thank you.
    • Keat Yeong Dear our idol, PSY, we love your song and we love how Gangnam Style can rock the party, however, please choose no to come to Malaysia this time. • Mohd Asnawi Haji Johari Dear PSY, we do love you, as well as your songs. But please don’t come to Malaysia to perform at the celebration party held by Barisan National. The reason, well, please refer to the other comments by our Malaysians friends. Barisan National is a corrupted political party that is staying in power right now. It steals money from the people, benefit only their own cliques. It neglected the objection of the people and invited LYNAS to come to Malaysia, and the waste of rare earth will become a great threat to both the people and the environment. It spoiled the election system just so it can continue to stay in power and continue to suck $ out of this country. Please reconsider your trip to Malaysia. Thank you very much!

GEORGE TOWN, Feb 2 – The Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) is to hold Chinese New Year celebrations in the Han Chiang school field on February 11, in a gesture of confidence against the DAP-led state government which held a mammoth gathering there before Election 2008.The coalition is bringing Oppa Gangnam Style singer Psy for the open house, which will be attended by some 60,000 guests including BN chairman and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

The South Korean singer is expected to sing his viral hit during the event. The song’s video clip has been downloaded more than 1.29 billion times on YouTube video-sharing site since its debut last July.

Conservatively, promoters estimated that Psy would charge between US$300,000 and US$400,000 (RM932,100 to RM1,242,800) for a short performance with a small crew, and singing “minus one”, which means he would be performing to pre-recorded music, without a band present.

Entertainment news portal Redcarpet reported that Psy’s fee for the BN even was US$1 million (RM3.1 million).
