Police rule out political rivalry but do not know the motive yet.

Cops: No political motive in shooting of DAP man

The murder of former Kampung Jering DAP branch chairperson Wong Kong Ting, 56, in Ayer Tawar, near Ipoh, last week had nothing to do with politics or racial issues, said Perak police chief Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.

Therefore, the police are now investigating the victim’s social connections and personal and family relationships.

“The victim was an oil palm replanting contractor and we are also investigating if there was any business rivalry involved,” he told reporters after attending the monthly police gathering at the Perak police headquarters in Ipoh today.

Acryl Sani said a man had been remanded for a week to facilitate investigations into Wong’s death.

However, he said, the man was not the prime suspect in the case and was assisting police to get a clearer picture over the shooting incident as police were looking at the case from a different angle now.

Correction: He was the former branch chairman.

The ex-Kampung Jering DAP branch chairman was shot dead at his house in Kampung Jering, Ayer Tawar.

Nine shots were fired!

Why did it happen? It doesn’t sound like a robbery. Probably personal like he offended triad members.

Hopefully, non-political since he is said to be small fry.

Anyway, let’s wait for the answer…

Meanwhile, DAP Perak leaders make the most of a bad situation by urging the police to focus on crime and not on politically-motivated police work.

Malaysia Chronicle

“Wong was a very good man. I cannot understand how anyone could do this to him. But this is a signal that the time has come for the police to really work at stopping crime instead of playing politics for the Umno-BN,” Ngeh told Malaysia Chronicle.

The motive for the killing is not clear and Ngeh has called for calm.

“We don’t know if there was any personal motive involved or whether the murder was related to politics. At this juncture, we hope the police will work fast and accurately because only the truth will satisfy the people,” said Ngeh.

PKR vice president Tian Chua was among those to offer his condolences to Wong’s family. Like Ngeh, he too urged DAP supporters not to jump to conclusions.

“At this point in time, there is no evidence that this is a political killing. But it is a grim reminder that all this Chinese-bashing from extremist groups insisting that the Opposition and the non-Malays are threatening Islam and Malays do not help,” Tian, who is also the Batu MP, told Malaysia Chronicle.

A special task force headed by the Chief of the Criminal Investigation department of Perak Datuk Mohd Dzuraidi Ibrahim will be formed to investigate the motive of the shooting.

“Members of the public with any information of the case could contact ASP Ahmad Hisham Mohamad Sani at 019-5753207, the IPD Manjung at 05-6835222 or any nearby police station,” said Jaafar.- MORE TO COME – Malaysia Chronicle

Cousins under fire on Facebook

OUT IN THE OPEN: Members unhappy with Ngeh, Nga

IPOH: AFTER Kedah and Malacca, internal turmoil in the DAP has escalated to Perak with a group of party members openly criticising state chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham and his cousin, Nga Kor Ming.

The disgruntled group has taken to social media website Facebook to air their dissatisfaction against the duo.

Kampung Acheh Baru chairman Loh Eng Soon had posted in his Facebook that he joined the party as he admired Nga.

“But now, I question whether my idol is fighting for the people or for his own pocket,” he said in a status update in Mandarin.

Loh, who attached a photograph of Nga at the opening of a restaurant, said it was taken when Pakatan Rakyat was the Perak state government back in 2008.

“Looking back, I feel stupid for helping him to sell dinner tickets and putting up congratulatory advertisements in newspapers.

“From an idol, he has become a slave for money. Little White (Nga’s nickname), are you aware of your priorities?

“Is money that important to you?” he asked in the posting.

Loh also commented in another posting that for Pakatan to be returned to power in Perak, Ngeh and Nga must be removed.

Desa Manjung branch chairman Solaiman Syed Ibrahim, in his Facebook posting, lamented that Ngeh had backstabbed him.

Without elaborating, Solaiman, a former state committee member, said: “This is the person who claims to improve the party’s standing in people’s eyes.

“If want to fight, fight in a proper manner. Do not fight like a pondan.”

A grassroots leader said members had kept quiet prior to the general election as they did not want to affect the party’s chances in getting more seats.

“But with the elections now over, it is open season,” he said, stressing that the criticisms were nothing personal.

PERAK State Assembly Speaker Datuk R. Ganesan today lodged a police report over the two envelopes containing pornographic material in print and VCD form, of an individual allegedly resembling him and a woman, received by two DAP state leaders yesterday.

The report was made at the Ipoh Police headquarters at about 10am.

Ganesan claimed in the report that he was informed by reporters that four DAP state assemblymen — V. Sivakumar, A.N. Sivasubramaniam, Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham and Nga Kor Ming — had held a media conference at the Perak State Secretariat building between 12.15pm and 12.40pm to reveal that Sivakumar and Sivasubramaniam had received an envelope each containing a VCD and a printed VCD cover of an individual allegedly resembling him and a woman.

He claimed that the production, reproduction and distribution of the printed material and VCD was undertaken with malicious intent to embarrass and defame him.

Ganesan, who was approached by reporters afterwards, said the police report was made to enable the police act against those responsible for the defamation.

Perak Speaker Ganesan: I am not involved in any sex scandal

By EDMUND NGO

IPOH: Perak Assembly Speaker Datuk R. Ganesan has denied any involvement in a sex scandal and will lodge a police report on the claim.

“I will ask the police to investigate the claim. I’m not shocked because they are only made-up stories,” he told reporters here on Friday.

“I am also extremely sad that my family has to face such allegations,” he said, adding that he viewed this as an Opposition tactic to attack him.

He was commenting on the envelopes which Opposition assemblymen V.Sivakumar and A. Sivasubramaniam received outside the assembly earlier in the day.

The envelopes contained a printed online article and a compact disc (CD) with a lewd picture, Ganesan’s portrait and a woman’s portrait on the cover.

Sivakumar said he would be lodging a police report on the matter.

Release sex video on MIC leader, dares party veep
  • S Pathmawathy
  • 3:06PM Jul 27, 2012

The allegation about a prominent Perak MIC leader caught on video having sex with a sex worker is absurd, MIC vice-president M Saravanan said, because not even “a single shred of evidence” has been adduced.

“It’s all lies. Let us talk logically. With news of elections around the corner, it’s golden opportunity for anybody who wants to damage the credibility of a leader,” Saravanan said when contacted today.

The federal territories and urban well-being deputy minister brushed aside the accusation against the Perak MIC leader, saying “it is just theatrics”.

“If that person claims that the opposition is in possession of the video, what are they waiting for? They would have released it by now, either fully or part by part,” he noted.

Several news portals and mainstream newspapers carried the allegation, quoting an MIC Youth source as saying that the video recording was in the hands of the opposition.

However, Saravanan said, the allegation was to raise discontent against MIC and aimed at “instilling an opinion” detrimental to the individual.

Malaysiakini has not been able to contact the individual linked to the video to verify the claim.

Ngeh’s land deal non-existent, admits pro-BN blogger
2:02PM Jan 17, 2013

Pro-BN blogger pisau.net, who accused Perak DAP chief Ngeh Koo Ham of obtaining land from the Kelantan government in exchange for the menteri besar’s post for PAS, has made a correction to his posting.

NONEAccording to Ngeh (right), the blogger’s Jan 13 correction cleared him and Pakatan Rakyat of being involved in corrupt practice. Pisau.net then closed the site before moving to another.

In the correction, the blog says that there was no exchange of land among Ngeh, his cousin Nga Kor Ming and Kelantan Menteri Besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat to ensure that the Perak menteri besar’s post went to PAS.

Therefore, Ngeh in a statement said the other parties who had defamed him and Pakatan leaders should also follow suit.

“The admission by the blogger that the article was factually incorrect is evidence that the allegation thrown at myself and my Pakatan Rakyat colleagues were nothing but cheap, irresponsible and repulsive political potshots. This also shows that my name has been cleared,” he said.

“I hereby urge others who have defamed me to step forward and follow what has been done by Pisau.net, to clear my name or Pakatan’s from the various ridiculous, untrue, and slanderous defamations,” he said.

GEORGE TOWN: Faced with mounting pressure from the media fraternity, the Penang Government finally relented by sacking a voluntary patrol unit (PPS) member who assaulted a journalist covering an apparent suicide case.

The state government caved in after more than 200 media practitioners, unhappy over the three-month suspension meted out to Lim Ah Chye, called for the vigilante’s expulsion from the PPS.

In a strong protest against the “slap on the wrist” punishment announced just three days ago, media representatives here handed over a petition to Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng before the weekly ex co-meeting at Komtar yesterday.

Presented with a petition containing 201 signatures collected by the Penang Chinese Newspaper Reporters and Photographers Association (Pewaju), Journalists Union of North Malaysia, Penang Press Club and Penang Press Employees Co-operative Society, the state government decided to expel Ah Chye from the Jalan Makloom PPS unit with immediate effect.

Honesty and humility must always remain qualities of DAP leaders — Lim Kit Siang

January 05, 2013

JAN 5 — Questions have been raised as to how there could be such a huge “recount” discrepancy and mistake in the DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) election results where Zairil Khir Johari’s votes for election to the DAP CEC increased by 498 votes from the 305 votes announced on December 15, 2012 to the actual vote of 803 (placing him in the 20th elected position), while Vincent Wu Him Ven could drop 533 votes from the 1,202 votes announced on December 15, 2012 to the actual vote of 669 votes (putting him in the 26th elected position).
…………….

There was no element of fraud, manipulation or dishonesty in the vote counting and tabulation process.

The blunder in the recent DAP CEC election results is a salutary lesson and reminder to all DAP leaders to always remain honest and humble, guided by the wisdom of the saying “Honesty is the Best Policy” if they are to continue to command the trust and confidence of Malaysians.

The Story Behind Ngeh Koo Ham and Nga Kor Ming Corruption Scandal

Saturday, 05 January 2013 admin-s

Both Ngeh Koo Ham and Nga Kor Ming silently stay away from this battle and let Kit Siang fought against Nizar. Earlier , nobody in DAP or PKR ever know that there is already a secret deal between Ngeh and Nga with PAS leaders. They just silently plot a way for it to happen and since they are more powerful than Lim Kit Siang in Perak therefore they do have their ways to make it happen.

On 17 Mac , Nizar from PAS successfully became the Menteri Besar of Perak with the help from Ngeh and Nga from DAP. After that , both Ngeh and Nga continue to expand their power and political base in DAP . They knew the facts that Lim Kit Siang is already too old to be in DAP for a long time and the arrogant Lim Guan Eng will need to step down as the Secretary General of DAP after his 3rd term. They are young and time is with them. They became so powerful that Kulasegaran a previous Vice Chairman and National Leader in DAP even loses his power in Perak.

Lim Kit Siang is not happy with the latest development and strength of both the nepotism Ngeh Koo Ham and Nga Kor Ming.  It will be a threat to the Lim Dynasty influence and power in DAP. Therefore , he hand over Nga Kor Ming wife tailoring contract to UMNO to play it. Another corruption of DAP leaders in Perak. It is a sign of pre emptive strike and a sign of warning from Lim Kit Siang to both Ngeh and Nga to slow down in whatever they are doing in DAP to expand their power. When that happens DAP DC call up Nga Kor Ming for investigation. According to DAP internal sources , the DC will let Nga Kor Ming off if he start to behave and stop expanding his political strength. Being a smart politician Nga Kor Ming just agree with it and that is why DAP DC conclude to let him off.

But then the young Nga Kor Ming is a very combative politician. He will never surrender to sure threat. That is why he took even more step further to cut off Lim Kit Siang right hand man in Perak ( Kulasegaran ) right after this incident to send back another message to Lim Kit Siang that he is the real warlord in Perak. A revenge strike happen when Nga Kor Ming uses his influence in DAP to dig out list of DAP Selangor corruption that is related to Lim Kit Siang camp ( Teresa Kok , Teo Nie Ching , Ronnie Liu , Lim Lip Eng ). He secretly leak out this news to MCA top leadership to play up the issue and the battle will be seem from MCA side but politically it is impossible for MCA to know if all this sources , details and news is not from DAP internally.

Party polls gaffe an ‘embarrassment’, DAP top leaders admit

By Debra Chong
Assistant News Editor
January 05, 2013

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 5 — DAP’s top leaders described today their party election blunder as an “embarrassment” and sought to save face by pointing out their mistake was due to a computer-generated error and not a move to rig poll results as alleged by political foes.

Both party chairman Karpal Singh and advisor, Lim Kit Siang, sought to put a positive spin on the matter by saying their willingness to publicly admit their error was a strength and not a weakness proving they could be counted on by Malaysians to be accountable for their actions.

“We expect to receive criticism from various parties but announcing the mistake is to show that we are being transparent,” Karpal told a news conference in George Town.

Lim echoed the Bukit Gelugor MP’s view, saying despite knowing the political drubbing they were likely to get over the mess “no leader had suggested a cover-up of the blunder and the leadership is united that we should tell the truth to the party and the public and face the negative reactions frontally”.

DAP election fiasco

By V. SHANKAR GANESH AND SUGANTHI SUPARMANIAM | news@nst.com.my

DAMAGING MISTAKE: Error raises doubts about party’s ability to rule country

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP is finding itself navigating a sea of criticism after admitting to a party polls mistake and then reinstating a Malay candidate to the last spot in its central executive committee (CEC).
The error has raised doubts about the party’s multiracial stance and placed its ability to administer the country under scrutiny.

But more damaging to the party’s credibility are suggestions that the mistake may just be a ploy to endear the party to Malays after it had come under fire for not electing any Malay to its 20-member CEC at its Dec 15 congress.

Controversy is growing over the amending of the results of the recent DAP polls. While the party claimed this was due to an error in tallying the votes, detractors say it was to bring in a Malay into the central executive committee – something which the Dec 15 election failed to do, much to the embarrassment of DAP leaders. The critics are all the more sceptical because the supposed blunder was disclosed only 19 days after the polls and political aide Zairil Khir Johari was pushed up from 39th to 20th position to make it as the last elected member of the CEC. KUALA LUMPUR: The DAP’s ability, integrity and leadership have come under public scrutiny following its admission to an error made over the tabulation of votes during the recent party elections.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek also questioned the DAP’s promise to bring about a better change for the 28 million Malaysians when it could not even handle a party election that involved only 1,800 voters.

Polls error raises question

‘Criticisms aplenty after polls, so suddenly DAP has a Malay in CEC’

PETALING JAYA: Amending the results of the recent DAP election because of a supposed error in the tallying of votes has raised widespread controversy, with various sectors convinced that it was done purely to bring in a Malay into the central executive committee.

Barisan Nasional and other leaders were especially sceptical because the blunder the party claimed made was disclosed only 19 days after the Dec 15 polls following the flak it got for not electing any Malay.

EX-DAP man Bah Tony now a PKR member

IPOH: Orang asli activist and lawyer Bah Tony, who quit the DAP about two months ago, has joined PKR.

Perak PKR vice-chairman Chang Lih Kang said Bah Tony, whose full name is Amani William-Hunt Abdullah, joined the party recently as an ordinary member.

“I only knew about it last month during a party meeting. He submitted his application directly to the federal level,” he told The Star.

Chang, however, declined to comment further.

Attempts to reach Bah Tony for comments were unsuccessful.

It had been reported that Bah Tony, who joined the DAP in 2011, left the party in October last year due to “personal reasons”.

Several online media sites and blogs had speculated that Bah Tony quit DAP because of differences with state chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham.

Bah Tony had been working closely with Perak PKR even when he was still a DAP member and had been widely tipped to join PKR last year after quitting DAP.

Assault on journalist should not have happened, says assemblyman

January 03, 2013

GEORGE TOWN, Jan 3 – The assault on a vernacular newspaper journalist allegedly involving voluntary patrol squad (PPS) personnel last Dec 30 is unacceptable and should not have happened at all.

Datuk Keramat assemblyman Jagdeep Singh Deo, who said this during a press conference here today, said brute force was not the way to handle an issue.

“Whatever the background of this case as stated just now, it did not justify using force against that reporter. That must be made clear,” he said.

He was commenting on an incident in which Guan Ming Daily journalist Ang Kean Siang, 32, was beaten up by four men while covering a case at an apartment in Jalan Perak here at 1.30am on Dec 30 last year.

Ang had also claimed that the group smashed his camera for taking photographs of a woman who was found dead and believed to have fallen from an apartment.

Meanwhile, one of the alleged personnel, Lim Ah Chai, 52, who was also present during the press conference, expressed his readiness to meet and apologise publicly to the victim. – Bernama

Ngeh must make his choice today

By Sylvia Looi | sylvialooi@nst.com.my

STAKE IN COMPANY: It’s against DAP’s principle for elected representatives to be involved in business

IPOH: EMBATTLED Perak DAP chief Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham has been asked by the party’s leadership to decide on his directorship in Upayapadu Plantation Sdn Bhd.

Sources told the New Straits Times that Ngeh, who had admitted that he and his cousin Nga Kor Ming have stakes in the company, was given until today to do so.

Sources also said the party leadership had also grilled Ngeh, who is also Beruas member of parliament and Sitiawan state assemblyman, in a meeting on Tuesday on his investment in the company that had been awarded a timber project in Gua Musang, Kelantan.

The meeting, it was learnt, was held following the call by party chairman Karpal Singh for Ngeh to be hauled up to explain his venture with the company which had been reportedly given 4,359ha of land for the project.

A party insider yesterday, confirmed the matter and said Ngeh and Nga’s involvement in a business venture went against the grain of the party struggle.

Nga, who is state DAP secretary, is also a director of Upayapadu Plantation Sdn Bhd.

DAP draws a line against politicos in business

COMMENT It’s been bruited about on the grapevine that the DAP has drawn a line against its elected legislators getting involved in business.

The issue came up when it was revealed in the Perak State Assembly last month that the party’s state chief, Ngeh Koo Ham, and his cousin, Nga Kar Ming, have landed interests in Kelantan.

Word has it that the duo would shortly announce a move that should see them divested of their holdings in Kelantan which had qualified them to be members of the landed gentry, a dubious distinction for politicos from a party of social democratic aspirations.

The business-politics nexus is the widely acknowledged cause of Umno-BN’s decline as a political power. The corruption and nepotism that this nexus has engendered has left the once powerful coalition too enfeebled to implement the reforms deemed necessary to regain its popularity among voters.

Once this nexus is forged, it’s fiendishly difficult to eradicate. Unchecked, its tendrils penetrate to every corner of the polity and soon enough the conglomerate that holds power is in a freefall to disaster.

For BN and PR, fresh candidates a must in Election 2013

By Zurairi AR
January 01, 2013

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 1 — Both Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Rakyat (PR) need to present fresh faces in their lineup of candidates for this year’s general election in order to attract the rising number of new voters, say political analysts.

They agreed with arguments for both coalitions to drop veteran politicians who are waning in popularity and carrying with them political baggage, or risk a backlash from voters who are tired of underperforming and scandal-ridden MPs.
……………….

New voters make up one in five among Malaysia 13.1 million registered voters, with a total of 2.9 million registering between this year and 2008, when the last general election was held.

This new breed of voters, armed with free access to information through the Internet and social media, will most likely be more demanding of the MPs who can relate to them through forward-thinking policies and not rely on the old politics playbook.

He said the land which the orang asli occupied in Gua Musang was the place where they looked for daily forest produce.

“I visited the orang asli some three years ago during a by-election and they were very unhappy about the way things were done. It will affect their livelihood as their main source of income is being destroyed,” he said.

The general perception is that DAP is a Chinese party, and Indians in the DAP are effete and ineffectual symbols of tokenism.

More Racism from Ngeh and Nga

Written by P. Dinesh

“Indians not as stupid as they think” quote unquote Ngeh Koo Kam on Twitter. From this statement, we can only conclude that Ngeh, the Perak DAP chairman, thinks Indians are stupid, but not as stupid as ‘they’ think.

Er, so how stupid are Indians, exactly, according to Ngeh? Ngeh’s statement is a Freudian slip which means that what you are thinking in your head is going to come out, either in speech, writing or some other way. Ngeh clearly has always thought of Indians as stupid, and now he finds himself publicly saying it.

What a weird tag-team these two cousins, Ngeh and Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming, make. Nga calls Zambry, the Perak MB, a derogatory name based on his skin color. Hitam metallik or metallic black, no less. WOW, this not only upsets Malays who are ‘hitam-manis’ but also Indians, who are mostly dark-skinned. Ngeh then follows up on the faux pas by describing the Indians as ‘stupid’. If they were to do a duet, it would be titled “The Ballad of the Stupid Black Indian”, we suppose.

Freudian or not, it was wrong Now, we could say rude things about Ngeh if we wanted. Like, for example, that his face looks like he was pulled out of his mother’s butt. However we shall resist the temptation, sort of. It really sets one wondering, what kind of conversations these two have about their Indian constituents.

Probably something like this:

Nga: Had to meet up with some black Indians today.
Ngeh: Stupid ones?
Nga: Is there some other kind?

Come on guys, show more class If there is one clear conclusion that we can come too from this, it is that DAP leaders, certainly these two, appear to completely lack ‘finesse’. Perhaps the more telling issue here is DAP’s response to the whole Nga affair.

Land for Ngeh proves cronyism is alive and kicking

Both Nik Aziz, the PAS spiritual king, and YB Ngeh, the Perak DAP boss, have denied allegations that the 10,000-plus ha land in Kelantan valued at over RM30 million had been “given” to Ngeh in 2008 to “buy” his consent for the appointment of a PAS Menteri Besar for Perak. Ngeh described the accusation “a blatant lie” [Malaysian Insider] and Nik Aziz says land for Ngeh was “not a bribe” [Malaysiakini].

We can expect a slew of multi-million ringgit lawsuits to follow, of course, which makes any attempt to dig deeper into the issue very unattractive for bloggers like us. Nevertheless, do read the Malaysiakini’s “explanation” carefully. I find that for all the talk against cronyism and nepotism etc, our friends in Pakatan are comfortable giving it to friends and people they know. They may have another name for it but call it what you like, that’s CRONYISM.

AMBITION HAS NO LIMIT FOR SOME PEOPLE

In 2008, with the formation of the Perak government by the coalition of DAP, PKR and PAS (later known as Pakatan Rakyat), they faced a problem of the candidate of new Chief Minister.

Among the 3 parties, DAP has the most seats, but the Perak state constitution says that the Chief Minister must be a Malay Muslim. Ngeh, being the Chairman of the Perak DAP, is ethnic Chinese and a Christian.

They initially agreed that Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin from PAS should be the Chief Minister but in the end, DAP tried persuading the Sultan, Sultan Azlan Shah, to appoint Ngeh as the non-Malay, non-Muslim Chief Minister. They listed three candidates, the other two being Mohammad Nizar and Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi from PKR.

The Sultan wanted to appoint a Malay who is a professional.

Thus Mohammad Nizar, being an engineer and carrying the highest position in PAS among the Perak PAS State Assemblymen, became the new Chief Minister.

Is Ngeh in bed with UMNO people as business partners?

Upayapadu Shareholder information is not correct. Umno says Ngeh dominate hampr 100% interest in Upayapadu, but SSM search different information.

Mohd Khairi Che Aseh tu sapa pulak?

Siapa tipu siapa?

*Aha, so Ngeh had wanted to be Mentri Besar!

Mat Saman Kati writes article No 8 on Ngeh the Perak DAP Taiko.

Read his story of the appointment of the Mentri Besar after General Elections 12:

Semalam, Perak Today menyiarkan satu artikel didalam Bahasa Inggeris yang bertajuk “Kelantan Land Issue: PAS Supporters Fail To Understand Between Letter Of Support And Letter To Transfer Land”

The ‘gift’ given by PAS government to the Perak DAP leader is said so that PAS could put Adun Pasir Panjang, Datuk Seri Mohamad Nizar Jamaluddin as Perak Chief Minister at the time.

Perlantikan Menteri Besar selepas PRU 12 sebenarnya menemui jalan buntu. Raja Nazrin meminta SATU nama dari Pakatan Rakyat untuk dilantik menjadi MB tapi setiap parti menghantar calon masing-masing untuk jadi MB. PKR menghantar nama Jamaludin, DAP menghantar nama Ngeh (ada hati juga Ngeh nak jadi MB..he.he), manakala PAS menghantar nama Nizar.

Blogger’s translation and summary

Yesterday, Perak Today published an article in English entitled ,The Manitoba Land Issue: PAS Supporters File To Understand Between Letter Of Support And Letter To Transfer Land.

The same lie is repeated..

What is this lie? The ‘gift’ was made by the PAS government to the Perak DAP leaders to persuade (bribe) them to agree to the appointment of Pasir Panjang assemblyman, Datuk Seri Mohamad Nizar Jamaluddin, as Mentri Besar of Perak.

The initial attempt to appoint the Mentri Besar after PRU 12  was a stalemate.. Raja Nazrin asked for  ONE name from the Pakatan Rakyat for appointment as MB. However, each of the three parties wanted their own candidate to be MB. PKR proposed Jamaluddin, DAP proposed Ngeh (YES, *Ngeh had the ambition to be MB…..he he…), while PAS submitted Nizar’s name.

Raja Nazrin ordered all three to come up with ONE name but they cannot. Each wants to be MB. Finally, all three of them agreed to accept the decision of Raja Nazrin.

When Raja Nazrin selected Nizar, Jamal and Ngeh tried to protest but were scolded by Raja Nazrin and both of them had to shut up and follow orders. But when the swearing before Raja Nazrin was about to begin, Jamal threatened to quit the party if Nizar was appointed. Ngeh also opposed the appointment of Nizar. That is why the swearing in of the MB had to be postponed. DAP demanded that all EXCO positions be assigned to them.

A solution was possible only with the intervention of Anwar, Hj. Hadi and Kit Siang.

That was how it happened and there was no interference by Nik Aziz.

Ngeh: Berita Harian published false news against me
5:20PM Dec 28, 2012

Beleaguered Perak DAP chief Ngeh Koo Ham today accused Malay daily Berita Harian of publishing a false news report that his recently acquired company Upayapadu Plantation Sdn Bhd was involved timber logging.

“Upayapadu Plantation is not involved in any timber logging… Upayapadu Plantation is involved only in reforestation to ensure future sufficient sustainable supply of timber,” he said.

Ngeh stressed in his statement today that the project was encouraged as well as supported by both the federal and Kelantan state governments.

Labelling the Berita Harian front page report carried yesterday a “total lie”, he pointed out that the photographs in the report showing piles of timber logs waiting to be transported out were not from the land where Upayapadu Plantation is carrying out reforestation.

“The front page picture is also probably taken from another place.”

……………..

Before concluding his statement, Ngeh struck back at Perak Menteri Besar Zambry Abdul Kadir, urging  him to explain the alleged approval of state lands worth billions of ringgit in favour of BN cronies.

“I have been transparent and have explained all questions raised with regard to Upayapadu Plantation. “I believe BN raised it to divert the people’s attention from the billions of ringgit land scandals that I have raised at the state assembly.

“Now that I have explained I challenge Zambry to explain the accusations raised against him and his government.”

Zambry has denied the allegation and decided to take Ngeh to court.

WHAT DO LIM KIT SIANG, KARPAL SINGH AND LIM GUAN ENG HAVE IN COMMON?

DETAINED BY THE UMNO CONTROLLED BN GOVERNMENT, THESE THREE STALWARTS OF DAP REMAIN INCORRUPTIBLE.

THEY ARE PRINCIPLED.

THE STRENGTH OF DAP IS BUILT ON THE PRINCIPLES AND SACRIFICES OF ITS KEY LEADERS, NAMELY LIM KIT SIANG, KARPAL SINGH AND LIM GUAN ENG.

ALL WERE PRISONERS OF CONSCIENCE.

HAVE TODAY’S DAP PERAK LEADERSHIP, NGEH AND NGA, EVER GONE TO PRISON? NO?

HAVE THEY NEVER EVER BEEN PRISONERS OF CONSCIENCE? NO. Christians should remember that the love or money is the root of evil.

COULD WE HOPE THAT THEY WILL REMEMBER THAT THEY ARE HERE TO SERVE THE ELECTORATE?

1 Lim Kit Siang
Detention without trial
In 1969 Kit Siang was detained under the Internal Security Act for 18 months. Ten years later, in 1979, he was convicted of five charges under Official Secrets Act for exposing an inappropriate arms deal between the government and a Swiss company.

Lim was one of the people arrested during “Operation Lalang” in 1987 for inciting racism. He spent 17 months in prison under the Internal Security Act, which allows for two years of detention without trial at the pleasure of the Home Minister. The two-year sentence may, in practice, be extended indefinitely without any avenues for due process or appeal.

……….

2 Karpal Singh
Karpal, along with many other opposition politicians, was detained without trial under the Internal Security Act during Operation Lalang in October 1987 for inciting “racial tension” in the country. He was released briefly (a few hours) in March 1988 in response to a habeas corpus application, but was rearrested and remained in prison until January 1989. Amnesty International deemed him a prisoner of conscience

Karpal Singh – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

………..

3 Lim Guan Eng
Lim was arrested by the Malaysian police in 1994, following his criticism on the government’s handling of allegations of statutory rape in one of his constituents by former Chief Minister of the state of Melaka, Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik. Consequently, while the Attorney General decided not to press charges Rahim Thamby Chik, Lim was charged under Section 4(1) (b) of the Sedition Act 1948 for causing ‘disaffection with the administration of justice in Malaysia’. Lim was also charged under Section 8A (1) of the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 for ‘maliciously printing’ a pamphlet containing allegedly ‘false information’ because he had described the alleged rape victim as an ‘imprisoned victim’ because she was initially detained by Malaysian police without parental consent for 10 days. During the judicial procedure, Lim was quoted saying:

If I fail and have to go to jail, I have no regrets. I have no regrets of going down fighting for the principles of truth and justice. And pursuit of human rights, especially women’s rights. There can be no women’s rights if women rape victims are considered equally responsible, and even detained, whilst the accused remain free.

After a series of appeals, Lim was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment. He was, however, released after 12 months on August 25, 1999. Due to his incarceration, he was disallowed from standing for election to public office for a period of 5 years, and he was therefore ineligible to contest in the 2004 Malaysian General Election.

THE BEST LESSON FOR DAP PERAK UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF NGEH AND NGA WILL COME WHEN THEY LOSE PERAK IN GE 13 TO BN.

THAT WILL BE A REALITY CHECK.

Perak DAP chief Ngeh Koo Ham avoids the larger question, which is, “Why are you, DAP leaders of Perak, involved in business?”

Where is your sense of right and wrong, your integrity? Why do you, with some power in your hands, also desire  wealth? Go into business and leave politics to others.

Perak DAP knows as well as anyone in DAP that we, the electorate, voted against BN because, among other things, we were fed up with the way they were carving up the Malaysian economic melon/pizza for themselves. The link between BN’s hold on political power and corruption has been long and terribly clear.

WHY SHOULD WE RISK THROWING OUT THE BN ONLY TO HAVE AN OPPOSITION THAT ALSO WANTS ITS SHARE OF THE ECONOMIC MELON/PIZZA?

Ok..I’m not talking about bribe and I’ve never accused both of them involving in bribery. I’m talking about integrity as state leaders.

Is this what you called “integrity”? Kalau akaun parti pun boleh diputarbelit, bagaimana kalau diberikan tanggungjawab untuk mengurus duit negeri?

A DILEMMA

Many of us are faced with a dilemma. We trust Lim Kit Siang, Karpal Singh and Lim Guan Eng but we don’t trust many of the others in the DAP.

I don’t trust Perak DAP.

The DAP has leaders who have undergone much suffering for sticking to their principles. Now, others desire power that they may then gain wealth…

Who are the models for DAP state leaders? Not Lim Kit Siang, Karpal Singh or Lim Guan Eng but those BN leaders who have accumulated wealth to add to their power?

Why has politics attracted so many scoundrels who claim to want to serve the rakyat but serve only their own interest?

MCA Youth urges Ngeh and Nga to declare assets
4:12PM Dec 26, 2012

MCA Youth today urged Perak DAP chief Ngeh Koo Ham and his de facto deputy Nga Kor Ming to declare their assets following allegations that the had received gratification from PAS.

In a press release today, MCA youth secretary Chai Kim Sen said Pakatan Rakyat had always challenged BN leaders to publicly declare their assets, thus the duo should start with themselves.

Ngah and Ngeh, who happen to be cousins, were alleged to have received 10,526 hectares of land in Kelantan in exchange for making way for PAS’ Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin to become the Perak menteri besar in 2008.

The allegations first surfaced at the Perak state legislative assembly earlier this month.

DAP WOULD LIKE THE VOTES OF CHRISTIANS. AND THEY ARE NO DIFFERENT FROM NAJIB AND BN.

At a time when the country is divided along racial and religious lines thanks to the machinations of Umno and our own communal preoccupations, one of the most influential opposition leaders chooses to reopen a still healing wound infected by racial bacteria cooked up in the laboratories of Umno.

To make me more sceptical, I look at what’s been happening in Perak. Look at the DAP leadership in Perak, Ngeh and Nga, so-called ‘good’ Christians. Vote for the DAP in Perak?

Umno corruption will always take centre stage, but Pakatan corruption as exemplified by the Ngeh brothers’ fiasco in Perak mired in warlordism, ethical double talk and apparently, apathy from the higher-ups in the Pakatan coalition is a festering wound that most opposition-leaning supporters would prefer to ignore.

DAP’s problematic Christmas message

God is silent. Now if only man would shut up.” – Woody Allen
COMMENT It is a simple question really. When DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng chides the BN regime with “if BN was a principled, people-centric coalition, it should not politicise Christianity to gain support of its Malay voting base”, the question is:

“Does the people-centric coalition of Pakatan Rakyat think it is hypocritical to chastise Umno for chasing the Malay/Muslim vote when the DAP itself is politicising Christianity to gain support of the Christian community?”

Religious messages by politicians during festive seasons are usually banal and loaded with platitudes that pay homage to whatever brand of superficial values they are pushing at that particular moment in time.

Sometimes, these messages are meant to rile up their bases. When this occurs, it is either subtle or a full on polemic. Lim’s Christmas message is the latter. Lim, who I am on record as stating would make a credible potential prime minister, seems to enjoy the taste of his foot in his mouth. This would be of no concern if he did not insist on making it a public spectacle.

If you want to be in business, then leave politics. We need politicians to care for the people and take care of the country, not their own pockets.

Southpaw: The commercial transaction may be above board, but still it’s such a bad idea for politicians to mix politics and business, especially when the deal involves land.

Ngeh and Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming are simply too insensitive and I would say it’s a political mistake by these two supposedly seasoned politicians.

Pronto: If they want to be in politics, they must be prepared to sacrifice their business pursuits, as business for politicians in the eyes of the public is likely to end up with ‘you do me a favour and I do you a favour’, especially when it comes to land acquisition.

It is worse when it involves Pakatan Rakyat states.

Ngeh storm mounts thanks to BN POKING FIRE

DOUBTS-Perak DAP chairman denies land was ‘reward’ for giving up MB’s post

IPOH: PERAK DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham insisted yesterday his stake in a massive Kelantan land project was not a “reward” for turning down the menteri besar’s post after the 2008 general election.

Amid mounting political storm that had ruffled the DAP leadership and cast doubts over the Pas-led Kelantan government, Ngeh maintained that his investment was a “commercial transaction” done in the open market.

He described as “lies” the allegations that the Pas government of Kelantan had awarded Upayapadu Plantation Sdn Bhd, the company that owns 4,359ha of land in the state, in exchange for him not being made menteri besar in 2008.

He said in a statement that he and a group of investors, among them his cousin, Nga Kor Ming, had bought over the company in April.

Ngeh said he had sent emails to all DAP central executive committee members, including party chairman Karpal Singh, detailing the acquisition on early Saturday morning after the issue was highlighted in the social media and after they were questioned in the recently held state assembly meeting.

DAP’s Ngeh defends acceptance of ‘Datuk’ title

By Ida Lim
December 24, 2012

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 24 – Perak DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham today defended his acceptance of the “Datuk” title in 2008, saying that the party’s leadership had allowed him to receive it from the Sultan of Perak.

He was responding to DAP chairman Karpal Singh’s remarks yesterday, where the veteran leader had said that DAP’s policy is to reject all state honours except for those awarded for bravery.

Karpal also said Ngeh and Selangor Assembly Speaker Datuk Teng Chang Khim had failed to “surrender” their titles despite being asked to do so. Teng had received his “Datuk” title in 2010 from the Selangor ruler.

But Ngeh today said that he had “never sought to be conferred with any honour or title” when he was the senior exco member of the Perak state government, saying that the Perak ruler had conferred the title on his own accord.

Ngeh further said that before he accepted the “Datuk” title, this issue was raised in DAP’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) where the majority said he “should accept the award”, but with Karpal against the idea.

“I hope Sdr Karpal Singh will accept the majority decision of the CEC and move on. This issue should not cause any division to the party leadership.

“If Sdr Karpal Singh feels strongly about his view, he should bring it before the CEC for a review,” Ngeh wrote in a statement today.

‘Datukship a Catch-22 problem for DAP’

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng stressed today DAP is not in politics to pursue datukship, but declined to tread into politically-sensitive waters on whether the party will change its unwritten rule of not accepting such titles.

“This is a dangerous question. If I answer we will accept, it will appear as if we are in for titles; if I say will not accept, we will appear as if we are disrespectful to the royalty,” Lim told a press conference at the DAP headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

He was responding to Sekinchan state assemblyperson Ng Suee Lim’s suggestion that party leaders accept such titles from the Malay rulers to prevent the party from being labelled as anti-Malay and anti-royalty.

Lim said the matter did not arise as no title was being offered to DAP representatives at present.

“I don’t think there is any issue about us not respecting the royalty. The sultans will need to award them first, so the matter does not arise,” he said.

Perak DAP chief Ngeh Khoo Ham has denied claims that the Kelantan government had given him land in exchange for support, saying the company had been acquired through the open market.

The land, said Ngeh in a statement today, was acquired through a purchase of the company awarded the 10,526 hectares of land by the state government, hence there was no element of corruption involved.

He added that the business deal was no secret as the DAP and state Pakatan leadership, as well as the federal government, had been informed of the purchase.

Karpal slams party strongmen Ngeh and Teng for receiving titles

a1

DAP chairman Karpal Singh is in fighting mood again. This time, he is taking on two party leaders over their acceptance of awards carrying the title of ‘Datuk’ while still active in politics. CEC member Datuk Teng Chang Khim, however, says there is no such policy while Perak chief Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham says the party leadership had allowed him to receive the award. GEORGE TOWN: The gloves are off in this DAP fight with chairman Karpal Singh squaring off against two party strongmen over the issue of their acceptance of awards carrying the title of “Datuk” while still being active in politics.

Karpal has rebuked Perak DAP chief Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham and central executive committee member Datuk Teng Chang Khim for breaching the party’s long-standing principal on receiving awards while serving as elected representatives.

The veteran leader said the rule for DAP MPs and assemblymen was agreed upon since the mid-1990s

“Both Ngeh and Teng went against the principle and I am unhappy,” Karpal said here yesterday.

Asked if they had given any explanation to the party over the matter, he said only Ngeh had but he considered his clarification as “unacceptable”.

He said he had discussed the matter with the CEC then and that there had been differing views.

“Karpal Singh objected during the meeting. However, most of the CEC felt I should concentrate on my job rather than get sidetracked by the issue, so they gave their approval.”

“I can accept Karpal’s views because as social democrats, the party is against class creation through titles but I believe he should also respect the views of the majority,” said Ngeh who was awarded the Darjah Datuk Paduka Mahkota Perak, which carries the title of Datuk, in 2008.

He said he had never sought the Datukship.

GEORGE TOWN: DAP national chairman Karpal Singh today denied that he had ever issued an edict prohibiting party members from accepting state titles and awards, especially Datukships, from Malay rulers, as alleged by former party vice-chairman Tunku Abdul Aziz Ibrahim.

He blasted Tunku Aziz for “lying publicly” and demanded an immediate retraction of his statement published in an English daily article yesterday.

Karpal insisted that he had only told party leaders, assemblymen and MPs not to accept Datukships or, state titles or awards, as long they were active in politics.

He said the party rule was DAP leaders and members can accept such titles and awards after retirement from active politics.
…………..
He said the policy of not to accept Datukships, any state titles or awards so long as DAP leaders were still active in politics and public duties was a long standing party principle constituted back in 1990s.

The rule was reaffirmed when Perak chairman Ngeh Koo Ham and Selangor Assembly Speaker Teng Chang Khim accepted Datukships in their respective states after the 2008 general election

Nonetheless they were given a dressing down during a central executive committee (CEC) meeting for serious breach of ethics.

Ngeh Koo Ham: Taiko DAP Perak (4)

| Oct 25, 2012 |

Tukang gantung bendera berebut nak jadi Ahli Majlis.

Tukang tampal poster berebut nak jadi Ketua Kampung.

Ngeh menjadi Pengarah Syarikat Upayapadu Sdn.

He..he..ini bukan aku yang cakap. Tapi Nga Kor Ming sendiri cakap.

Jangan bagi tau bini depa…sat lagi perang besar aku tak mau campur.

The DAP rank so low in my view that the claim of Hasan Ali finds resonance.

Hasan Ali suspects MCA-DAP tie up
8:53PM Oct 24, 2012

Former Selangor PAS chief Hasan Ali suspected that the MCA’s recent anti-hudud vitriol and subsequent DAP reaction was part of an elaborate plot by the Chinese community to further their political interest.

In a press release today, Hasan said that both parties may appear to have diverging ideologies on the surface, but it should be viewed as mere “acting”.

The Jalur Tiga (Jati) president postulated that MCA, which represents the  Chinese community, knew that it would only draw a “nominal” amount of votes in the coming general election and it would be “more logical” if they helped DAP.

He said that this would make DAP the “absolute representative” of the Chinese community and be able to articulate their demands.

“The little voice in my heart keeps telling me that there appears to be some understanding between MCA and DAP, especially in facing the 13th general election,” he said.

Tetapi keadaan berubah sejak kira-kira dua bulan lalu.

Ngeh said he had spoken with Bah Tony over the course of two months in relation to his intention to quit, which was due to personal reasons

Pasai apa nak jumpa Ngeh?

Bila mediaperak mula-mula menyiarkan Bah Tony keluar parti pada 17 Oktober… Ngeh pun tak bising. Walaupun DAP rasa rugi sebab Bah Tony keluar parti, tapi Ngeh tak rasa apa-apa.

Ngeh cuba melakukan damage control.

“There is no turning back for me now,” Bah, whose real name is Amani William-Hunt Abdullah, said when met by The Malay Mail yesterday.

So…sapa yang menipu?

“I have been committed and will always be committed to my people. I have been doing that for the last 25 years,” he said.

Tony resigned because of his people..not because of his personal reasons.

Sejak PRU tahun 1999 dulu, kerusi DUN Chenderiang sapa pun tak mau. PAS tak mau, DAP tak mau. PKR ambik kerusi tu pasai sapa pun tak mau.

Perak DAP’s Rising Star Quits Party, State Chief Denies Rift

| Oct 18, 2012

KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Rakyat has suffered a setback in its bid to regain Perak. One of its rising stars, Bah Tony, has quit the DAP.

The 58-year-old Orang Asli activist lawyer submitted his resignation letter to Perak DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham almost two weeks ago, without any fanfare, and has been incommunicado since.

The matter was kept silent as the leadership is trying to talk him out of quitting.

His reasons for leaving are still a matter of speculation although party insiders tell The Malay Mail it is because Bah was unable to see eye-to-eye with Ngeh, as well as over issues surrounding his candidacy for the Chenderiang state seat.

Bah, whose real name is Amani William-Hunt Abdullah, was seen as the best candidate to challenge MCA’s Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon in Chenderiang, which has been Perak’s largest number of Orang Asli voters.

“After he tendered his resignation to me, he even paid a courtesy call to Lim Kit Siang,” Ngeh told The Malay Mail.

But why shouldn’t Tony pay a courtesy call to Lim Kit Siang? His problems are NOT with Lim Kit Siang but with You-know’who!

Bah TonyBAH: Disillusioned because he can’t help his community through party

PAKATAN RAKYAT has suffered a setback in its bid to regain Perak. One of its rising stars, Bah Tony, has quit the DAP.

The 58-year-old orang asli activist lawyer submitted his resignation letter to Perak DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham almost two weeks ago, without any fanfare, and has been incommunicado.

Bah, who joined the DAP in June 2011, wanted a platform to voice his concerns for the orang asli but was disillusioned that he was unable to help his community through the party.

Bah, whose real name is Amani William-Hunt Abdullah, was seen as the best candidate to challenge MCA’s Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon in Chenderiang, which has Perak’s largest number of orang asli voters.

But a senior PR official said the PR leadership was also unable to give Bah a definite answer if he would stand in Chenderiang.

“There were also plans that if Pakatan wins the state in the coming elections, he will be state exco member as he would be able to represent his community,” said the official.

A PKR insider said there had been a “silent conflict” between Bah and Ngeh over the last few months.

Among the issues were those involving the orang asli that did not make it to the DAP platform.

“The purpose of him joining DAP was not fulfilled and, therefore, he felt it defeated his purpose of joining the party,” he said, adding that Bah worked closely with PKR rather than DAP on orang asli issues.

Krisis DAP Perak: Bah Tony keluar parti

| Oct 17, 2012 |

Oleh: MSK

2 Jun 2011, Bah Tony@Amani William-Hunt Abullah, seorang peguam terkenal Orang Asli menyertai DAP.

It also says:

Skandal Nga Kor Ming (2)

Did Ngeh’s mis-tweet make him sound like a TWIT!

During last Sunday’s Perak DAP convention, a Malay delegate took to the mike to say that Ngeh had undone the good things previous leaders did to attract other races into DAP.

Mediaperak

Tweet and die

Ngeh: Is still struggling to live down the impact of his tweet.
Ngeh: Is still struggling to live down the impact of his twee

| Oct 02, 2012 |

The backlash from Perak DAP strongman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham’s controversial tweet in connection with a video insulting the Holy Prophet Muhammad has dented his party’s image among Muslims and will cost his partners in PAS precious votes.

DATUK Ngeh Koo Ham was probably having trouble sleeping on the night he tweeted about Umno Youth’s plans to protest against the film mocking the Holy Prophet Muhammad. Ngeh had apparently been watching CNN, BBC and Al-Jazeera news reports on the Muslim protests taking place all over the world and he posted the tweet on Sept 17, at 1.43am, little knowing that it would soon engulf him in a political firestorm.

The tweet was also in response to Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin’s plans for his wing and the PAS Youth wing to have a joint demonstration against the film that has angered Muslims worldwide.
…………….
Two nights later, he attended a DAP dinner at Ipoh’s famous Lee How Fook restaurant, his face looking like a thundercloud, according to one of those present.

The dinner was a fund-raiser organised by Pasir Pinji assemblyman Thomas Su who, together with Ipoh Barat MP M. Kulasegaran, is the ringleader of the camp opposed to the powerful cousins Ngeh and Nga.

“To have to attend the dinner of a person you don’t like and to lose face over the tweet, who wouldn’t look unhappy?” said an Ipoh-based journalist.
……………..
DAP is still struggling to shed the image that it is a Chinese chauvinist party that is critical about everything that has a Malay connection – the police, civil service, Umno, MACC and the NEP.

Alienation of Malay voters

What happened is unlikely to improve the party’s image among the Malays. The worst-case scenario is that DAP might have alienated the Malay vote in Perak.

But the real casualty of such insensitivities will be PAS and, to a lesser extent, PKR. These two parties have been struggling to hold on to the Malay votes in Perak and remarks like that will send the Malays running in the opposite direction.

‘Yes, I said it, but I was led on’

Deputy chief minister admits calling his boss ‘cocky’ and ‘arrogant’
Thursday, September 27, 2012 – 15:04
Location:
GEORGE TOWN

CM 1INTE RNAL PLOT: Mansor (left) and Lim. The deputy chief minister says there are people after his position

PENANG Deputy Chief Minister (I) Datuk Mansor Othman yesterday admitted that he had called his boss, Lim Guan Eng, a cocky and arrogant person, and also likened him as a tokong (deity) in a meeting with local Chinese leaders in March.

The state Parti Keadilan Rakyat chairman, however, insists he had been taken out of context, saying that he had only labelled the chief minister such after he was led on by questions thrown by several members in the meeting.
…………..
Mansor had allegedly labelled Lim as cocky, arrogant and a tokong during the closed-door meeting.

The issue simmered after a series of denials but resurfaced after an alleged audio recording of the meeting was aired by a television station on Monday night.

On Aug 24, Mansor said he meant Lim was a revered figure in Penang when he uttered the words tokong but that words like “cocky” and “arrogant” were taken out of context.

Two days ago, TV3 aired part of the recording revealing those exact words spoken during its news hour, further incriminating Mansor.

Recalling what had happened, Mansor said: “It was an internal meeting arranged by a group of PKR leaders to discuss the general elections. I now remember there were leading questions that made me answer that way.”

Mansor was certain that there are people after his position and this was an attempt by these quarters out to get him.

“I placed my trust in this group of people who asked for a meeting with me. I trusted them when we had our discussion. I didn’t expect them to do this to me,” he told The Malay Mail.

Tee Beng had described Ng Wei Aik, who is also the Komtar assemblyperson, as a “rottweiler” who simply shoots his mouth off and made serious allegations against his dad.

Tee Beng said his father’s personal home in Silverton, at a luxurious condominium along Gurney Drive, was not bought with the rakyat’s money.

He added that his dad – former Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) president Tan Gim Hwa – was confused why Ng raised the issue when he held a press conference in Komtar two days ago.

Panned by Pakatan comrades, Ngeh holds his ground
1:48PM Sep 20, 2012

Malay mainstream dailies today continued to highlight statements of Pakatan leaders that condemned Perak DAP chief Ngeh Koo Ham for  his controversial Twitter message in relation to the American film ‘Innocence of Muslims’.

NONEHowever, Ngeh (right) has stood his ground, claiming that many PAS leaders actually support him.

Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia today dedicated its frontpage to Ngeh, for the second consecutive day, with statements from PAS leaders including Kedah commissioner cum Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak, Johor commissioner Mahfodz Mohamed and former Penang youth chief Mohamed Hafiz Mohamed Nordin.

Azizan said Ngeh’s attitude did not reflect the characteristics of a leader while Mahfodz slammed the message, saying it had hurt the feelings of the Muslim community.

Berita Harian quoted PKR youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin as saying that Ngeh should apologise for the Twitter message.

PKR vice-president Fuziah Salleh described the statement as “an insult to Islam”.
………….
PAS vice-president told the Malay daily that Ngeh’s remark was not appropriate.

Even DAP deputy-chairperson Dr Tan Seng Giaw said that Ngeh should not have made the statement.

“I advise the Perak DAP chief not to touch on issues related to Islam because it can hurt the feelings of Muslims in this country,” he told Sinar Harian.

They are afraid that they would be blacklisted, censured and eventually booted out by the Lim Dynasty if they backed Karpal on hudud.

GEORGE TOWN: DAP members are scared to openly support national chairman Karpal Singh’s stand against PAS Islamist agenda due to fear of stoking the wrath of all-powerful Lim Dynasty.

Former DAP Sepang parliament liason committee chairman R Vellasamy claimed that DAP members were afraid that they would be blacklisted, censured and eventually booted out by the Lim Dynasty if they backed Karpal.

But truth is, he claimed many current and former DAP grassroots leaders and members strongly backed Karpal to oppose PAS agenda to turn the country into an Islamic state and implement hudud law.

“We wish to remind MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek that Karpal is not a lone voice in the party to oppose hudud.

…………..

Lim Dynasty is a political term coined by the grassroots to taunt the faction led by national adviser and Ipoh Timur MP Lim Kit Siang and his son and secretary-general Guan Eng, who is the Penang Chief Minister.

DAP NEEDS ‘HOUSEKEEPING’ BEFORE GE13.A well known case appearing in the Chinese press that shocked us. It is about a small housing estate with a political warlord too important to touch. We thought they were Gerakan or MCA… after all BN had always kept those unsavoury types to do their dirty work. The local DAP fellas cordoned journalists who visited Taman Kaya and hurled abuses at them, then a few days later attacked the poor fella who sounded the alarm bells. Something should have been done via dialog or mediation. We expect ‘leaders’ to lead. Instead… we saw terrible behaviour and inaction. To make things worse, BN is having a field day bashing up DAP. We don’t blame them because the ‘cara halus’ obviously didn’t work.

DAP, we have a piece of advice for you… Mistakes are unavoidable. But if you do not resolve the issue, it festers and civil society might start doubting your sincerity. Manhandling old people is not good publicity for a GE year.

Referring to Pakatan Rakyat’s battlecry for reform and change, Huan said the Taman Kaya incident revealed that it was DAP leaders who must first be reformed and changed.

“This is DAP’s modus operandi now. They have run out of issues. When pushed to a corner or questioned intellectually, they start to show their true colours by intimidating others,” he added.

Parti Cinta spews hate on ‘hooligan’ DAP

Athi Shankar | September 14, 2012

PCM vice-president Huan Cheng Guan says a recent incident in Perak proves that DAP is capable of uncivilised politics and therefore must be rejected by voters.

GEORGE TOWN: DAP often accuses its rivals of practicing uncivilised and uncouth politics but Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) vice-president Huan Cheng Guan said the former does the same.

He cited a recent incident in Ipoh’s Taman Kaya as an example.

“With this type of nonsense, they want to rule Putrajaya?” he said, calling on voters to punish the arrogant DAP for behaving like a “tokong”.

He was referring to an article and video posting in the Perak-based media portal – Media Perak – that showed DAP Ipoh Garden East branch chairman Lee Chee Seng and his wife Irene Yow, with a group of residents, blocking a car from leaving Taman Kaya.

Media Perak claimed that its two reporters and a social activist were held like hostages in the car for nearly two hours.

It claimed that the trio were also abused with racist slurs such as “Indian Pariah”, “Indian Pariah Lawyer” and “Malay Kui.”

Media Perak claimed that the residents were DAP members and Lee’s branch came under DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang’s Ipoh Timur parliamentary constituency.

The article claimed that during the incident, the trio contacted in vain the area’s elected representative, Canning assemblyman Wong Kah Woh, for help.

But the assemblyman only returned the call to one reporter the next day merely to tell that he cannot possibly attend to their needs because Lee and the other residents were his voters.

Huan said the video clearly showed DAP leaders and members being aggressive and intimidating against independent journalists.

He said DAP leaders should learn to walk the talk on freedom of press and expression, human and democratic rights.

“The party often calls its rivals hooligans when it is no better. It’s like the pot calling the kettle black. The video showed [DAP) was blacker,” slammed Huan.

Samseng DAP Taman Kaya Part 2 has been released!

Samseng DAP Taman Kaya (2)

| Sep 12, 2012

Vote ‘Anything but DAP’, PCM urges Penang folk
8:40AM Sep 12, 2012
Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) is calling on voters to think twice before casting their votes for DAP as its members have demonstrated “uncouth and uncivilised character” at a recent incident in Perak.PCM vice-president Huan Cheng Guan proposed that the people vote “anything but DAP” as the party has also failed to fulfil its promises since March 2008, especially in Penang.Huan was mocking the ‘Anything but Umno’ group, which has vowed to campaign against the ruling party and has been urging the people not to vote for Umno and BN candidates in the upcoming general election. He said DAP has often accused Umno and Perkasa of being hooligans, and said the rival party was no better.Huan was referring to a revelation by blog-cum-media portal Media Perak, which featured a group it said were DAP supporters in Taman Kaya, Ipoh, reacting aggressively to a number of independent media journalists doing a survey in the area.”With this type of nonsense, they want to rule Putrajaya? I think the voters should punish them for being so arrogant and cocky,” Huan said in a statement yesterday. He added that DAP claimed to practise democracy and freedom of speech but when a group of people came to investigate allegations of hanky-panky in the area, they were intimidated by the party supporters.”This is the DAP modus operandi now. They have ran out of issues. When pushed to a corner or questioned intellectually, they start to show their true colours by intimidating others,” Huan said.

Choose quality candidates, DAP urged

Athi Shankar | September 11, 2012

Teluk Intan MP M Manogaran says a DAP candidate must not be a bankrupt, an alcoholic or a drug addict, or be involved in scandal or vices.

In the fast-emerging new political culture in the country, he said the ever-demanding voters were now insisting on candidates of highest integrity and dignity.

He said the party must vet candidates thoroughly to make sure they have a clean background before nominating them for seats.

He indicated that lack of integrity and dignity were the main reasons for the defections of DAP state representatives in Perak – Hee Yit Fong of Jelapang in 2009 and Keshvinder Singh of Malim Nawar in 2010.

DAP and most people supportive of Pakatan Rakyat blame Hee Yit Foong. A greater part of the blame lies with DAP itself but DAP won’t admit that. DAP selected Hee. Bad choice. Shows bad judgement of character on the part of DAP.

Bad judgement leads to bad consequences.

Think of what’s happening now in Taman Kaya. Put two pemimpin DAP and one Assemblyman together, and you will get what I mean.

We are not talking about just frogs but about choosing people of integrity, who are of high moral standards, and who choose right against wrong. It would be terrible if the one chosen was just someone who knew on which side their bread is buttered.

That is why when those from the ‘Good’ side show themselves to be no better than rude thugs, we shake our heads and wonder if Malaysia can move forward with all this heavy baggage.

‘Liberos’ declares war on Napoleons in Lim Dynasty

Athi Shankar | September 8, 2012

Former party loyalists calling themselves ‘Liberos’ vow to flush out Napoleons of the ‘Lim Dynasty’ from politics altogether

SHAH ALAM: We have the Avengers, the X-Men and the Expandables. Now, enter the Liberos. Unlike the others, it is not at all a Hollywood box-office product but a political entity formed to rid Selangor DAP of Napoleans.

A formidable group comprising disgruntled current and former loyal members and supporters, Liberos members claim to be victims of the DAP’s Lim Dynasty.

The term was coined by the grassroots to taunt the faction led by national adviser and Ipoh Timur MP Lim Kit Siang and his son and secretary-general Guan Eng, who is the Penang Chief Minister.

Members of Liberos claim that they had have been sidelined, isolated, bullied and booted out by certain Selangor DAP politicians, described as “Napoleons of the Lim Dynasty”.

Now the Liberos has declared war and vowed to launch an all-out campaign to flush out the “Napoleons” from politics altogether.

THEIR TARGETS
Lim Kit Siang
Lim Guan Eng
Party disciplinary board head and Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai

Selangor DAP chief and Seputeh MP Teresa Kok
Pandamaran assemblyman Ronnie Liu
PJ Utara MP Tony Pua
Kajang municipal councillor Lee Kee Hiong
Teratai assemblyperson Jenice Lee
Serdang MP Teo Nie Ching
Selangor DAP secretary and Seri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah

………….

Under the Lim Dynasty, the Liberos claimed that the DAP had abandoned its socialist ideals to become a capitalist political backer.

Besides calling the DAP “Daddy Anak Party”, the group also described the party as “Developers Association of Penang”, in reference to Lim’s alleged pro-developers’ policies in the island-state.

The group derived the name “Liberos” from the football term “Libero”, a marauding last man in defence made famous by German football great “Kaizer” Franz Beckenbauer.

Ex-DAP man counters phantom members charge

K Pragalath | August 24, 2012

Tan Tuan Tat dares DAP disciplinary committee head Tan Kok Wai to prove him wrong instead.

PETALING JAYA: Tan Tuan Tat, who quit DAP on Aug 16, has come forward with evidence to counter the allegation by the party against him.

The party’s disciplinary committee chairman Tan Kok Wai had hauled up Tuan Tat over the allegation that the latter created 149 phantom members to form three branches in Sepang.

Speaking at a press conference this morning, Tuan Tat demanded proof.

“You alleged that I forged 149 memberships using their MyKads collected from an event without their knowledge. Where was the event held? What event is it? When was it held? Prove it to me.

“I did not do any events to open up branches,” he said, adding that the 149 people had requested him to assist them in delivering their membership application forms.

Six of the 149 were present at the press conference.

One of them, Mahful Wahid, a former PKR Sepang member represented the six who wanted to join DAP.

“I collected the MyKads along with membership fees and passed it to Tuan Tat so why is DAP accusing him of creating phantom members?” he asked.

“I left PKR because they favoured some people and it turns out to be thesame here as well,” he added.

All 149 applications were rejected by DAP.

“Now I am glad that they rejected my application because my conscience would be at odds had they accepted me as a party member,” said Mahful.

He also criticised Pakatan Rakyat as he lacked confidence in their leadership.

“Pakatan speaks nonsense. I would not support them since they only promise and yet do not keep their word,” he added.

PKR’s Mansor denies calling Guan Eng ‘arrogant’

August 24, 2012

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 — Penang PKR chief Datuk Dr Mansor Othman denied today that he had described Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng as arrogant during a recent meeting of his party’s strategy team.

He told a press conference in George Town, Penang, that the revelations made in the leaked meeting minutes published in a blog were the work of political foes out to create friction between PKR and its Pakatan Rakyat (PR) partner DAP, which is led by Lim.

Penang DAP wants Mansor’s ‘arrogant Guan Eng’ remark explained

August 23, 2012

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 23 — Penang DAP said today it will seek clarification from Datuk Dr Mansor Othman over his alleged criticism of DAP and “arrogant”  on Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, which was revealed in the leaked meeting minutes of a recent PKR strategic meeting.

State DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow also denied in a statement here claims made in the same PKR meeting that DAP had demanded to contest in additional seats for the coming election, paving the way for possible three-corner fights in DAP’s northern fortress.

“The Penang DAP has not make any demand for additional seats and has ruled out any possibility of three corner fights with our Pakatan (Rakyat) partners.

Guan Eng ‘arrogant’, says Mansor in leaked minutes

EXCLUSIVE State PKR chief Mansor Othman is upset that minutes of the party’s Penang strategic meeting on preparations for the 13th general election, where he described Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng as arrogant, have been leaked.

…………
In the blog titled ‘Gelagat Anwar’, the June 16, 18 and 19 postings listed the attendees and detailed the discussions on seat allocations and problems faced by PKR in Penang.

A check revealed that one of those in the list of attendees – Kebun Bunga assemblyperson Jason Ong Khan Lee – was absent from the meeting.

Those present, other than Mansor, included state PKR deputy chief Law Choo Kiang; Bukit Bendera division deputy chief Felix Ooi; Bayan Baru deputy chief Tan Seng Keat; 2004 candidate for Bayan Baru Raymond Ong; Tanjung Youth chief Ng Chek Siang; Batu Uban chief Cheah Peng Guan and the DCM’s assistant John Ooi, who is also a PKR member in Bayan Baru.

SOMEOF THE LEAKS

1 During the meeting – which appeared to be very focused on PKR’s Chinese candidates – Mansor said that except for Machang Bubok assemblyperson Tan Hock Leong, the other incumbents would defend their seats…..Chinese candidates would be fielded in five state seats and one parliamentary constituency. This is in keeping with the 2008 formula.

2 On whether the DAP has requested any seats from PKR, Mansor is quoted as saying he would not budge on that. He said PKR’s Chinese candidates are seen as a “threat” to the DAP.

3 Mansor remarked that his boss in the state administration, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was not only “arrogant” but that it was undeniable that Penangites thought of him as a “tokong” (a diety).

“He (Guan Eng) is very arrogant, I tell you… cocky and arrogant. It is not easy. Now more arrogant,” Mansor says about the DAP secretary-general.

“They (the DAP) are sure of winning 19 (seats) and they want more. Because with two more (seats) they can form their own government and they can take from us (PKR reps) to be on their side and (then) abandon us (PKR),” the minutes quote him as saying.

4 On the possibility of three-cornered fights if PKR does not accede to DAP’s alleged demand for more seats, Mansor said “We will fight”, adding another list of 10 Chinese candidates would be prepared for constituencies such as Sungai Pinang and Jawi.

‘How can DAP sack me after I quit?’

K Pragalath | August 22, 2012

Former DAP Sungai Pelek parliament liaison committee member Tan Tuan Tat also cliams that the DAP disciplinary board made the announcement to sack him before sending him any letter.

KAJANG: Former DAP Sungai Pelek parliament liaison committee member Tan Tuan Tat today questioned the party’s logic in sacking him after he announced he quit DAP.

“How can DAP sack me after I had quit the party?” Tuan Tat asked, when contacted today.

Tuan Tat, who was also Selangor DAP auditor and Taman Sungai Pelek branch chairman, bowed out of the party on Thursday after raising issues relating to Selangor government-linked corporation, Talam Sdn Bhd, and expressing dissatisfaction against Selangor DAP leadership for sacking him simply because he was a strong supporter of Sungai Pinang state representative and Selangor State Legislative Assembly speaker Teng Chang Kim.

“I publicly announced that I quit the party at 12 noon and faxed a letter to DAP headquarters at 2.45pm,” he said.

Meanwhile in a related development, Sungai Pelek coordinator P Sivakumar issued a statement on Saturday and clarified that Tuan Tat’s expulsion was due to the latter’s dishonesty in creating bogus branches.
